SSA is a Sabah/Sandakan license plate. It has the format of SSA1234B, so it is easy to be mistaken as sgp license plate. But how would a sabah car appear in sgp will be a more interesting question. But there are some sabah cars running around in JB. Edited by Ct3833

Yes can confirm that SSAxxxxX is from Sandakan,Sabah.

Related to TS question, it is likely that Singapore will not have the SS-series license plate when the time comes, just as the SA-series was directly skipped to the SB-series, for it can be confused with the Kota Kinabalu license plates.

I think we will eventually see an SSS car plate .

There are no current guidelines that says that it cant .Currently , vowels in the middle are excluded   ( eg no SAX or SEX or SIX ...)  and the use of I and O are also excluded  ( eg no SLI and SLO ) to avoid the confusion with zero and one .

Means after this "SL" series , we are likely to have SM..., SN.. , SP.., SQ... , SR .., then SS

Each series can be used to register 240,000 new vehicles ( 26 alphabets less "I" and "O" ) . Since our car population around 600,000 and if we assume that 60,000 will be scrapped replaced each year , each new series will take about 4 years to be used up . So from current SL to SS , we may have to wait approx another 20 years .

In reality , the use of registration numbers are more than 60,000 per year cos new numbers are generated and used temporarily before being discarded so the wait will be slightly less than 20 years .

We skip SB not because of foreign license clash.. SB is used on sbs buses.

We also skip all vowels so we dun end up with words like SAD, SIR or SEX

We skip SH cos taxi

We did not skip SB entirely . Only SBS was skipped cos it was used for SBS buses . SBA, SBB, SBC etc was used .

We skipped SH series entirely cos the entire SH series was reserved for taxis .
