SINGAPORE — Come Sunday (April 1), season parking fees will be imposed at six military camps and bases for permanent staff, in addition to the 10 military premises that currently have such charges.

 

Responding to TODAY’s queries, the Ministry of Defence (Mindef) said late Monday (March 26) that the additions followed a review.

 

Mindef declined to disclose the names of the camps and bases. TODAY understands that the additions include Khatib Camp, and Mowbray Camp in Choa Chu Kang.

 

“Due to their proximity to public amenities, the car parks in these camps are deemed to have market value,” the ministry said, without elaborating on the season parking fees.

 

Mindef said the policy applies to all permanent staff, as well as contractors who require a car park lot on a regular basis.

 

 

Basing on the above logic, our SEP, PM and Ministers at PMO should be charged not less than $1,000 per month for season parking, since the designated lot (in Istana) is located right at the heart of a prime area and of ultra high market value... :D :D :D

 

Exactly. These people really anyhow talk...

 

At this rate, later everybody also starts charging parking. What next? Visit friends staying in condos, maybe also need o charge in future?  [sweatdrop]

Mandai Crematorium still got free parking......... don't know whats next

SGH mortuary also got free parking last time (now I dont know) maybe @Radx can update

In many schools, there are simply more cars than parking spaces available. The staff resort to parking along the driveway, which strictly speaking, is illegal. How are these vehicles going to be charged. When the staff pay for parking, they expect to be provided with proper parking spaces! 

 

Letting visitors park free is nonsensical!

Actually if our public transport system is not only reliable but with improve connectivity, our authorities eventually will not need so,many car parks.

 

Instead of spending billions our ERP system and their maintenance over the years, the money could have spent on improving our public transport system.

 

We are so terribly focus on revenue generating that we forget that revenue generated is for who?

I only work to generate income to feed my family.

 

Actually if our public transport system is not only reliable but with improve connectivity, our authorities eventually will not need so,many car parks.

Instead of spending billions our ERP system and their maintenance over the years, the money could have spent on improving our public transport system.

i dont think it has to do with the abuse as now they have a security personnel who will ensure no unnecessary parking.

 

the topic here is regarding benefits in kind. i am already paying to park in my IHL. Soon i believe i will have to pay full charges.

 

Hope they give me a little more increment to offset that. [:p]

ERP is okay (i dont go thru them....hahaha) but the revenue could have been used to make the infrastructure better and ready for the future......

There will be problem allowing staff to park at the bus bay. They need to move out before school buses come in for the dismissal. Some remember, some don't. It is problematic!

 

Since the authority will start charging for parking. Is it right to charge when there are not enough parking spaces. and allowing staff to park illegally? Not right also!

nowadays most schools doesnt gave school buses like the old days. Most buses are from transport coy who have contracts with school to provide transport only for school's event. They are only in the school jit to pick and send student to and fro the venue. Bus bays are usually empty as the drivers rather wait at the pick-up points.

The authority have already make an effort to improve our public transport system liao la, buses have improved and now they are doing reworks on MRT and LRT. If you say there is no improvement, people would say your expectation is too high.  [rolleyes]

of course our expectation of them is high, same as their high expectation of their salary. They are paid millions a year for their so-called leadership and vision......if not why need to pay them millions? That millions are not for them to keep the chair warm you know.

Heard those going for ICT are not affected.

 

ICTs/NSF are all national service, and are serving the country. 

 

Already sacrificed so much time for the country by serving the 2.5 yr, then some more do the 10 (is it still 10?) yr cycle, while so many FTs stay shiok shiok no need to serve, and they still wanna charge NSMen for parking?

 

Happy happy call back for mob manning briefing, technical recall, FFI, etc. all charge parking, next GE hoseyliao...

Oh yah, i went mandai 3 wk ago... free...

 

and for that couple days at sin ming funeral parlour area... was wondering whether that URA carpark there, will there actually be any of the warden/contractor go there check... no right? Anyone knows?
