hanayori 2nd Gear March 21, 2018 Share March 21, 2018 2 weeks old Hyundai Elantra. Scratch to a pole when I make a reverse turn on a narrow road. Left side tail light cover crack, but all lights function well. My own car.Any suggestions?I only treat it as a transportation for my family. So do not want to spend much on repairing it.1. Bring back to Komoco. But I do not think warranty will cover any.2. Claim insurance. Excess 600. Maybe I just pay repairing cost and next year premium increase.3. Outside workshop. Not sure what the cost for the light cover.4. Use glue or tape to fix it by myself. To me the looking is not an issue. Wait next time go JB or has other issues repair together.Any ideas. Please help. Thanks. ↡ Advertisement 1

Bring back to Komoco. But I do not think warranty will cover any. (definitely won't cover for own damage) 2. Claim insurance. Excess 600. Maybe I just pay repairing cost and next year premium increase. (Will stay far far away from claiming from insurance. Anyway the light cover won't cost $600) 3. Outside workshop. Not sure what the cost for the light cover. (Vote for this option. Shouldn't be too expensive. Do homework and find reputable workshops doing Hyundais for better workmanship) 4. Use glue or tape to fix it by myself. To me the looking is not an issue. Wait next time go JB or has other issues repair together. (Would not recommend this as rain water will get into the tail light assembly and possibly short circuit the entire rear light system.) Any ideas. Please help. Thanks. Don't know why you kenna a dislike but your question sounds pretty legit to me. My opinions as above. Hope it helps.
Unfair 3rd Gear March 21, 2018 Share March 21, 2018 Just go workshop and ask them to quote for repair. Might be just the cover or a whole piece.

JonathanBuck Clutched April 22, 2019 Share April 22, 2019 hi, most modern tail light lenses are more than one layer deep. There is an outer layer that protects the red or amber lens underneath. As long as water cannot enter the lamp don't worry, it may get banged in a supermarket car park the day after replacing it. Does it show any white light out of the crack when the light is lit up ? 2 weeks old Hyundai Elantra. Scratch to a pole when I make a reverse turn on a narrow road.
