i find it funny, all wanna sell number plates but dunno there is something called retention fee, all wanna talk about transfer fee.

 

For sellers/owners of carplate, pls know that there is 1300 involved should you wanna sell the plate and has finance obligation or do not want to increase transfer count if not under finance.

 

example: seller wanna his his plate, then expect buyer to pay 1300 for his own retention bcos car stlll under finance obligation, then even if retained, without a neutral car to be transferred together with carplate, you think carplate can be transferred like that? unless buyer of plate has a neutral vehicle to do the transfer which will cost another 1300 bcos the buyer of the plate wanna place on his own vehicle who has finance, unless, which is rare, the buyer car has no finance obligation and allow transfer in exchange for the saving of 1300 but increase in transfer count.

 

So all in all, 1300 to pay for seller own retention and another 1300 so that buyer can retain the number to place in on his own vehicle. Pay 2600 before plate cost? I dunno, you ask me, just the 2600 can have quite alot of choices online.

 

NOTE: Car plate numbers cannot be transferred just by the number alone.

i know there are alot of noobs here. I am just pointing the fact that they want buyer to pay for seller retention fee and then buyer own retention fee again, which already cost 2600.

 

So a seller ask for $2000 for SXX 0000 X, all fees on buyer, so buyer has to pay $1300 for seller own retention and then again another retention for buyer before replacing on his own vehicle. Total is 2600 + 2000 = 4600? This is astronomical figure for a "no meaning" plate. Buy from dealer, only pay 1 x 1300 thats it. Why? Again direct seller special? Carplate is carplate is carplate.

 

These also go to show that dealer has minimum 1300 as cost to LTA before price of plate when it comes to buying number back to sell, just FYI, dealer got no special price like someone ever said.

Well... dealer sell the price is already included the retention fee. Most dealers already taken out the number plate from cars already. Most direct sellers they still have not taken out the number plate from their cars.

 

Some direct sellers will expect buyers to pay their retention fees but they sell u the plate cheaper. Some will include in the selling price.

 

But bear in mind, every plate is unique. There must be a reason for u to offer to buy. If the plate is not worth the selling price, u may nego with the seller. Is quite subjective on ur decision to buy a number plate. New car plates u can bid from LTA, but the alphabets will never be the same. If u want just good numbers, then bid from LTA. But if u want a unique alphabets n numbers, buy from open market...

U can try the next round of LTA bidding.... nice alphabets n numbers for ur choice. But 1st round already over.
