Original have cover. But Singapore cars sold by komoco do not have

it is better to have a cover in my opinion. cos can guard against rain water and to protect the parts. this kind of small parts Komoco also want to save?

better to have, but not necessarily bad even if don't have.

 

the parts themselves (in this case mostly gearbox, half shaft, some brake lines and stuff) are usually made to withstand the rain and dirt and stuff.

 

many other cars from other brands also don't have. so don't worry 

 

(for those who are more into cars, the underbody panels are usually for aerodynamics purpose, that's why many high-end cars have it)

how can a cover cause over heat issue here? there is no reason why warranty is void becos of this ma. than you tell AD back lor. if i dont put the cover which original Korean spec has. than the parts spoil becos of prolong water splash are they going to cover?

why so afraid of AD as you being the pay master?

You can ask Komoco if there should be one, if the service guy say dont have , then all the elantra in SGP do not have one , you should not worry about it. If you are keen to have one , you can still get komoco to indent one for you.

Aiya, just look at where the engine oil filter is. Isn't it the blue thing there in the pic. If so why have a cover and make servicing so troublesome?

From the holes of the under panel in front, there should b another under / splash panel. Should b part of auto design to help prevent to certain extent loose gravel mud sand splash of hit these components

If becos of this "enclosure" causing overheat, then Hyundai should really examine their design issue n tolerance

I think can also help to stop cars from staining the car parks. Sometimes can see oil stains in carpark lots after cars move away. Maybe LTA should impose such features to protect the environment. All these oil drips affect the soil, grass etc and so unsightly.

Let say car move forward + radiator fan pull air thru radiator and into engine compartment; where the hot air going to escape?

Can't trust them now. Ask them fix e.g Item A, they will give u problem A.1

I saw a cover that allows access to the oil filter. Unless u service yourself, u pay for convinience and they need to do their job, no?

It is not totally enclosed. Hot sir will ventilate thru the mid section.

Hard to say. As my stabilizer end link and engine mounting already harden before 3 years mark. I can't vouch for the quality anymore.

I won't say agree or disagree. Two years back my avante was leaking fluid. Can't remember if it was engine oil or transmission fluid or what.

 

I was walking to my car when I saw the stain under my car. All monitors in the dashboard showed normal. I still went to autobacs and that was where the leak was discovered.

 

So let's say I did not notice the leak, I would only realise this when the monitors in dashboard showed low fluid level and if I were far away like NSHW..........

 

But I also agree that it is unsightly. And does affect the greenery if you park over it.

here i share my view:

 

There should be no cover at this position. Unlikely you can get any original part from car maker. 

see below service manual from Hyundai & Kia the undercarriage assembly view at engine compartment.

 

 

And i think this should leave it open.

If you like to protect it, you can try get those bracing added as extra protection, not fully cover it. 

 

I wonder why it should not fully cover, evaluate and below the possibility:-

1) there is not much opening at the engine hood for hot air escape, hence the bottom opening is the only area for hot air escape. 

2) when stationary the heat load generate from engine is not so great, hence the heat is possible to dissipate out. However not when car moving with load. 

3) general car design when car moving forward, the air flow thru at top should be lower velocity vs undercarriage with higher velocity. So that air pressure at top side is higher than undercarriage to create down force for stabilize the car. (also taken into consideration the cd for fuel efficiency).

When undercarriage air flow velocity is high (lower air pressure), it shall suck the hot air inside the engine compartment and discharge off to the rear of the car.

 

and someone did mentioned there is extra holes on the existing cover, i do not think those for adding extra cover. From part manufacturing point of view, this holes likely is for the guide pin position during part fabrication process. 

And also possible to serve as drain hole to avoid water trap within the parts. 

 

Hence it is not recommend you to cover it.
