Five-figure monthly income but still not enough

When the ph and indo economy starts picking up, don't think middle class or even upper middle class in SG can afford a maid anymore.

What then?

we are very 'lucky' they are corrupt.

everytime i visit my jakarta office i would be impressed. Their young talents are damn capable, and with a 260m population, if you pick the smartest 1%, you already have a figure exceeding our best. But as long as their elderly folks in public office siphon off money and make things difficult for investors and progress, our rice bowl is still secure. Otherwise with their resource and young talent they would piss all over us.  i already park some money in start-ups there for the inevitable.

Damn depressing

No wonder many gals i dated says

You qualify as a bf cos you are interesting and has a good sense of humour

But as a life partner/husband. Sense of humour cant feed the family

Then how so much competition for job

Ft slash salary just to stay here and send back sing dollar

you just need to hone your comedy presentation and get a slot on netflix, and will soon earn more than most here :D

I suspect that the family was convinced by the reporter to give the interview, thinking that the article would turn out differently in favour of their plight.

But the tone of this article was eventually designed to be a passive troll bait - seemingly talking about the financial challenges of this family but covertly steering readers to focus more on the self-entitlement aspect of the family, to stir up discussion and emotion.

I don't believe that the reporter (or his editor) did not expect this kind of reaction when writing the article.

Good point.... The main business and bottoming of news is generating interest and readership.
