Judging from the numerous threads of durian threads, I can see that most people like MSW.

However, I do not prefer MSW as I think normal durians are enough for me.

The main aim of the post is to see if anybody is like me(ie. likes to find budget durians) and if my statement of most people like MSW .

PS.T his is not a thread for academic purposes. For general discussion only.

Thanks with regards,

Brass.

There is apparently no poll on this kind of question, so I created this thread.

If moderators feel that this thread is similar to other threads, please merge them to other durian related threads.

Thanks

as long as the durians are fresh and the seeds are flat/small, i would be happy. branded cultivar or otherwise, this is immaterial.

the photos attached were taken during a trip to a durian farm in Raub.

Have anyone ate this durian before?

I hav eaten this in Sabah before.

There is minimal smell and it’s is sticky and taste quite different from normal durians.

Quite heavy on the palate and you will get sore throat more easily than normal durians.

Ps, I can’t quite remember the rest (ate this 3 years ago)

I have no prejudice or preference over branded durians. As long as they are nice and affordable. The branded ones, such MSW, Jin Feng, WZW and etc. are certainly nice but comes with a hefty price tag. I have also tried the kampong durians in JB and they are nice as well but with a more affordable price tag. Don't seem to be able to find such Kampong Durians in Singapore though as most will be tagged to a certain label in order to fetch a better price. The kampong durians I tried in JB were sold by sellers driving small cars or a small pick up and goes at a price of around RM 15 to RM18 per Kg as compared to the MSW which is selling at RM48 to 60 a Kg.

Seriously, I think RM18 is steep.

I think RM 12 or lesser will be a good gauge of price.

Talking of durians, does anyone here go for squirrel eaten durians if they are sold at a discount?

I do!

These are really beautiful durains.

Will try based on looks alone.

Will try based on looks alone.

Not just on looks, but on taste too.

Just make sure you don’t get unripe ones (common with this type of durians)

Three years ago, I ate these durians almost everyday in Sabah for Chinese New Year (February)and one usually cost no more than RM3 for a durian (wet markets and roadside.)

If you go to Sabah or Sarawak next time during new year, there should be plenty of this durian ( not as if overflowed) and if you do not have a car or time to travel to find durians, the best bet will be in the city itself (of course no RM3 ones)

Have anyone notice that there are no ants or flies near the drain stalls. Despite durian being so sweet and fragrance

because they use sheltox when you are not looking

don't believe go interview the ants and flies
