Really hate it that I need to pay for COE again to continue using my car for 5/10 years. It's my car & ive already paid once & my car is already part of the cars on the roads. I'm not adding to the count. I find this is all BS. It's one of the reasons why I won't spend my golden years here.

Hehehe....don't think Vios is a medium sedan. Think it is the lowest sedan model and at that price is really not cheap.

i would say Vios at this price is still a good buy. cannot directly compare to the likes of Space Star and Attrage. one cent money one cent product.

is not true.

my AD (C&C) vendor bidding 42K+ and BM bidding 46K+! when the COE is at 38K.

clearly there is very a weak demand due to CEVS uncertainty (all buyer waiting), i am struggling to understand too how BM to earn from vios and altis pricing. (few K at most after deducting the car cost).

anyway, Vios drop 4K immediately which represent a good buy now, a medium sedan car below 91K with good features! wow!

Violence cost 91k? Wow that is ex.

My 06 registered vios cost 52k. MIT. Cos 12600.

So you can calculate the cost/profit back then.

Looking at annex A.

Seems like most common cars will cost $5000 more (2017 CEVS has rebate $5000, but 2018 VES is neutral $0)

Seems like the COE result is very very clearly controlled by AD to make the COE cheaper by ~$5000, and therefore the selling price of 2018 cars will more or less the same as December2017 price level.

Seems legit?

I believe this is true. With the new VES, many cars getting more surcharges. In order to sell cars, COE will go lower so as to negate this effect. If not, car dealers all beat flies everyday.

Dealers using the surcharge thing to create fear in the market, so that people commit earlier and best part is using the 30k surcharge as advert. But buyers will still see the final price no matter what surcharge, VES up, COE sure down. The latest chart by LTA shows that quite a number of vehicles might not be affected and I believe won't cause car price to go up much. For AD I think it's more flexible, they will tweak the cars to make it compliant to avoid massive surcharge.

Sorry, I have the opposite opinion that overall prices will go up eventually due to combination of less COEs n VES which more cars will be either same or worse off. So far, only Jazz 1.3 n Mz2 r the only 2 cars which are better off in VES compared to CEVS as far as I know.

Also, aspiration for owning cars will only get higher n as we all know, when demand is more than supply; prices will surely go up! Of course, like all car enthusiasts I hope I’m wrong.

From CEVS to Euro6 to VES and soon PM, the rapid changes in policies & frequent interventions in the market show only one thing, LTA scholars are not sure what they are doing, buay zai. Applying a new band aid to repair the holes created by the earlier one.

Agree with you. Moreover, those who cannot stomach paying “extra” for VES may well chose to renew their COEs, leading to less COEs being recycled.

More people renewed coe but also there are many renewed coe cars will be due to scrap end of 5 years. Around 2020, there should be many 5 years renewed coe cars will be deregistered by then.

then they will "realize" that too many old cars stuck on the road and then start to increase some taxes on old cars to reduce the "robbing of state coffers" caused by less people buying new cars which results in less GST, customs duty, ARF and of course VES.

Annex A for the VES banding rebates and surcharges, and bands of examples of common car models under the VES.

Wah, Prius is officially dead here. $0 rebate for an internationally recognised clean vehicle. LTA scholars really one of a kind.

Looks like dealers are cutting their price 3-6k after last round bidding. Expecting crowd into showroom again this weekend?

If you check on car prices, COE has gone down so much but cars are still expensive.  Don't think the surcharge by govt is fake and dealers are using that to frighten public. Seeing such prices, I will not commit too.  Also, can dealers tweak cars to siam VES ? If can everything no issue leow. Sometimes we have to face the truth and no point self-deniel on the facts presented.  COE pricing recently dropped is because prices of cars being expensive due to VES projection and a lot is unsure what is to come. After Feb 18 when everything settles, things will be clearer.

Singapore intent is already very clear and all tracks has been set for it. Right now we are just waiting for it to pick up steam.
