Hi am considering the octiva 1.0 plus or civic 1.6 sedan. Any advise? Need car that can still climb when full loaded. Family on the heavier side

Reversing is sometimes dependent on the car characteristics.

I drive an executive sedan.

 

But i had trouble reverse parking a jazz twice when i was test driving both the 1.3L and 1.5L versions.

There's something funny about that car's mirror position (i test drove another 3 cars that day which i had no problems with) lol.

The Octy will pull better imho, but please do go test it out. Nothing we say here can compare to you actually putting your fam into the car and going for a drive.

The Karoq is using the DQ200, 7 speed dry clutch. Same as what the old Jetta is using, however, the Karoq is on the new MQB platform and latest DQ200 firmware since its launched only recently. Thanks. May seriously consider Skoda after reading 160pg of comments here lol. Btw any one familiar with registering the car as Z10? Current car is under company name for grab purpose but i heard now no need to register a company for Z10? Also financing wise any idea how it goes?

No plan to get AM seat covers.

Alcantara is technically faux suede, which is easier maintenance, and actually costs less than leather.

 

I find these seats alot softer, and more comfortable than the faux PU leather ones.

If I have to hide these lovely seats under something else, there is no point of the RS. lol

Are any of the current Skoda models equipped with the DQ500 DSG gearbox?

 

Both the Superb Combi and Kodiaq are high up on my list to consider as my next ride, so if there's no way in hell that Skoda will put a AT torque converter gearbox inside, then DQ500 would appear to be the more reliable DSG transmission.

Yes. 2.0 Kodiaq.

 

L&K Superb is DQ250. RS is DQ381.

Took more than 2.5 weeks to arrive, and I found out why, coz of value probably got held by GST.

Paid the singpost guy an additional $43 when he came.

 

The package was huge because they did not fold the bonnet insulation.

Got the mud flaps, and car bra, some misc netting, boot LEDs, and the (you gonna go wtf) first aid kit.

I will try and fit them on later after work.

 

Driving to work, it was a smooth drive.

Barely had to throttle the gas, small step and this will really vroom.

I clock near 100km on a daily basis because of where I work, and come back from.

So I really appreciate enjoying my drive, hence another reason to choose this baby for the task.

 

My pet peeves so far.

The centre console drink holders can no longer fit all my standard tumblers.

There is no switch to unlatch the boot, need to go out to unlatch, and open.

I think most, if not all, hatchback or liftback style tailgates don’t have internal latches because they won’t pop open due to the weight. Powered tailgates are the exception.

We not sales man and no comms, so dont need to convince or losse sleep over one lost sales.

 

Unfortunately , there are 2 things that is preventing me from getting a Vrs if the opportunity appears.

 

No DCC and the 4 eyes look.

 

The prices and the build quality is second to none. 

 

Am very sure that if you drive to Malaysia, you will not have a worry about your ride stolen. The rims and tires is another story.

Lazy can be in terms of tuning. Not many DCT are as fluid and efficient as DSG.

Yes, DCC is great.

Until the time comes to repair, or replace them.

They cost really high.

Had a colleague who sold off his GTI, because the DCC costs too much to replace when the time came.

Am sure its reliable like hell, but like all electro mechanical parts, will be subject to issues in its lifetime.

 

I was actually thrilled the RS came without DCC.

Means I can lower them in the future with no much issues, or a stupid button I can no longer use.

 

First impressions on a normal skoda with the 4 eyes, looks abit wtf.

But on the RS trim, some say it looks like a spider out for the kill.

Its subjective lah.

I used to be on the MKV and the cost for a Coilover was also very ex. $4.8K. So the DCC prices are quite decent, even for aftermarket DCC. BUT unless, its DCC, the wiring to get a DCC will be ridiculously high.

 

The DCC seems to hold up quite well, looking at the recent Golf 7 GTi that has being used and abuse by the media group on their long junta to Thailand as well as heavily track days.

 

I think the water pump for many died but have yet to hear of DCC failure.

what i know for certain, to my own personal experience, i got the same cannot make it experience from the aftersales since 2012

 

now i just hope the car is reliable so dont need to involve after sales . i really hate dealing with them. and worst is the managers try to cover for them and hide it from the upper management. ivory tower higher management, gangster aftersales... 

 

You had bad experience with VW but yet you changed to another VAG car.

 

Skoda also under VCS here leh.
