AGM battery

Looking for AGM battery 850 amp for a continental car, 2000cc turbo.

How much should I expect to pay for a reasonably good AGM battery.

Any brand you used before that is good.

Hi, get a Bosch AGM stop start .  Cost about S$ 290+  ( 1 year ago price, you need to check again).

I guess we can use ordinary battery but the AGM is made for such use ie better?

I am using a non AGM Bosch, think 730 CCA. Bought from Arrow Tyres for $200.

 

I disable start-stop for my trips.

AGM is useful for cold countries, as a cold start in the morning is much better than flooded lead-acid.

 

It's less useful for our weather and not as lasting.

 

The reason, I believe, is the water, in the electrolyte, absorbs and buffers the heat.

Without water (like AGM), the heat directly degrade the plate material much faster.

           it could be a placebo effect for me. But when I tried the normal silver Bosch, the start/stop seems to be rougher and I can see slight flickering of the display lights(It could be because the car is 4 year old B**?  )

Varta has been the pioneer for AGM batteries.  Also, it is the OE brand for many BMW and Mercedes.

 

80Ah AGM Varta costing average $350 in the market.

It's is a underrated battery brand man. haha...

This brand seems to be going in slowly into OE market.  BMW, Audi original battery are also starting to have Banner.
