Why so many 'old' car inside?

Maybe the Mitsubishi Attrage won because it was cheap and easy to run.

This could be a case of people voting based on the car they drive(private hire) and some people just voting based on its price and not value

Furthermore I believe that ‘compact’ in the Car of The Year should be branched out as it is too broad a segment to be considered as one.

They could put subcompact and compact instead.

Those cars in the nominated list are completely out of my choice scope. I don't even bother putting in my vote. This exercise is totally a waste of time!

Being one of the newer cars in the list, my vote for COTY goes to BMW 5 series (code name G30). Good handling, nice styling, plentiful features, sufficient power output and good range from diesel to petrol with a plug in hybrid available as well.

 

It has big shoes to fill with its predecessor setting a high benchmark. It faces huge competition from Benz E class whose interior oozes class but I still feel this G30 overall package makes it a winner!!

I seriously wonder who chose the nominees. Especially for the "premium hatchback class".
