But a lot of PRC are whole family running/dying in the Darian Gap for no passport to US... makes our Brunei Temburong  look like a joke.

Yet so many of their leaders selling them koyok already have 2nd... even multiple.. pass ports. And they're the only ones who understand anything near full picture.

So the PRC jiu cai are the pitiful ones however one looks at it.🤣..... 🥲

They tear their passports, so they will not be deported back.

Going by percentages, its a drop in the ocean

Those whom renounce their citizenship for Cambodia or St Kitts and Nevis should also be considered.

A lot of Taiwanese have 2 passports.

I am pretty sure most of the rich taiwanese and the sons and daughters of DPP politicians with 2 passports will be on the first plane out to SF/ LA at the first sign of trouble, before the blockade is imposed.  A lot of young taiwanese are counting on US stepping in militarily (even with the Ukrainian lesson), taking idealogical position without regard for reality.  Sad.

I only feel sorry or sad for them that they have only these 2 bad choices! [laugh]

One will lead them to their peril risking war and conflict, another will lead them to gradual change to totalitarian system like HK.

If i am taiwanese i will be looking to change passport.

DPP gave them hope but it is a dangerous game they are playing to stay in power.

Most ppl don't want to serve NS.  That's why they expect US to step in.

You think 連勝文 don't have 2nd passport meh?

Same same la.

In reality, nothing will happens.

It is against American interest for any cross straits war.

That's including PLAN blockade.

what is left of them? they will be forever branded as illegit. or 乱臣贼子 and 反贼。🙄

Sean Lien is, at the very least, not the one beating the separatist drum.

You generally do some dueD before posting but when it comes to China, lots of unsubstantiated assertions.

After Ukraine, hard to know what US is willing to do to maintain US exceptionalism and supremacy. When all else falls, to keep their divine right to be number 1, things will likely escalate.  Anti China sentiments have been whipped up in the US and any US politicians taking a middle ground will be beaten down.  Such is the power of media.

DPP increasingly aggressive statements is another indication of a departure of previous one China policy (don't tell me Lai's inauguration speech is not cleared in advance hor).

When XDD told the world that China wants peace and openly declared to Ursula von der Leyen and his own senior staff that Taiwan war is a trap. You insisted otherwise.

Dogma is not good.

What was previous One China policy?
Which part of Lai’s speech made it aggressive?

Rem, any Taiwanese that doesn’t accept 1 Country 2 System are deemed to be separatists.

I already guess so.

To me, media over reacted on the number of times he mentioned China or PRC.

2nd, “The situation worsened with Lai’s proclamation that ‘the Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China are not subordinate to each other’.” This is separatist?

Let re-emphasize, “Anyway, from CCP POV, Taiwanese Separatists = non-recognition of Taiwan being part of PRC..”

I am waiting Republic of Temasek and Republic of Singapore example.

He called out PRC as China to his heart's content.

ROC constitution also calls itself China, so it is not normal, nor acceptable in official occasion.

There are various levels of arguments, and when you put yourself so low, it makes it difficult to have decent discourse.

The ROT/ROS example was crafted, because you claimed Taiwan is the province of Republic of Taiwan.

By calling out PRC, it touches another PRC red-line, 一邊-國。

By calling out PRC, it puts Lai as Xi’s peers, which is unacceptable to PRC.

By comparing no of times Tsai and Lai mentioned it, media is overreacting.

Guess one got to look at context. He called himself in 2017 the "pragmatic worker for Taiwan independence" and his speech according to those familiar with subtlety of political language used in the cross-strait context was largely interpreted negatively.  🙄

I watched a pro KMT Taiwanese YouTube video on the speech a while back that said roughly the same thing.
