Have heard different prc mention that when son get married,  parents will have to foot the bill. huge bill 彩礼 and house.

I Asked how can parents afford since they are likely from the generation that didn't  enjoy economic boom🤷‍♂️ when can't couple together work and save up?

was told its like that that one.

Guess it's a ugly thing that perhaps causes women side to think it's OK to chop chop chop big bloody piece from groom side.

Have also heard case where bride mother last minute insist huge 6 figure sum, saying when her son marry will also need pay so much. Groom walked away after the bride also insist must pay 🤦‍♂️.... I think he did the right thing though.

There are many more bachelors than available women. More demand less supply. 

Natural to ask for more. Not willing/unable to give then be prepared to lose to someone else. Just like COE.

The women don't even want to get married nowadays. Cos the stress from needing to bear the next generation from this parental expectations. 
And the high cost of keeping up academically for your child not to lose out and do vocational learning which is seen as a failure (and is also economically not valued).

China and South Korea is exactly the same. Just that china' environment is slightly less toxic.
