I would think carma is a stronger word?

To me, just changing the wording to agree/disagree would make lot of people here happy. Like you will not be so pissed off if people disagree with you anonymously.

To me, like/dislike is like pandering to the social media norm nowadays while agree/disagree is more for mature people like most of us here.

my post is misunderstood. [:)]

ahem .... i am not suggesting changing the word to carma.

don't even know what it means.

my point is that many forums don't have the praise/dislike system.

agree that dislike posted anonymously should be stopped.

see how it can be changed to a better word - how about "like/disagree"

anyway.....does anybody have an explaination of the "carma" thingy?

what does "carma: +128/-224" means.

Karma is the actual meaning. Reaping what you sow. Either you can praises or thumbs down and the figures indicate that.

In a car forum, Carma is a wordplay substitution for Karma.

Hehehe

Honestly these electronic likes/dislikes and karma/carmeleon garbage only bother you if you let it.

I have my share of dislikes and have no problem with it at all. It’s just imaginary and I don’t have such a narrow mind that everyone must agree with all the nonsense that I spew

Understand.

But think the Praise/Dislike is causing too much emotional stress. Using Agree/Disagree would be less aggressive.

To me, if you have people disagreeing with you is less aggressive than disliking you right? I disagree with your post does not mean I  need to dislike your post. We can agree to disagree. But in current system, when you disagree with certain post, you have to put it as dislike which will make emotion run wild for some people.

If I have control over the forum, I might put in place different degree of consensus: praise, disagree, dislike. Dislike is like telling the person you are talking rubbish or nonsense haha. But that would make the forum very complicated.

Thanks in particular to TOJ and kdash for specifically offsetting the dislike but I don’t find there is the need to find out who doesn’t agree with me.

If you cannot, to use a Chinese euphemism, “see things open” then it is not on me, but on you. This really is merely the internet and when you don’t even know who I am, there really, really, is no need to take it personal when you send a “dislike” over here.

Real life is challenging and stressful enough not to have to manage cyber-reality as well.

Yup. If you are bothered by the 5th dislike, seriously for your own wellbeing, you need to consider quiting the forum.

This is not a first time we hear feedback about the Anonymous Dislike.

Let me try to bring everyone to see things from our point of view.

We started this self policing system because we want members that are helpful to get praised thus points will determine the members rank.

The dislike function is built to help us kill the spammers, if you see any spammers you can just dislike the post then they will get auto-ban eventually (Details refer to the point system guide)

If you are not spammers and you get dislike, your post could be offensive, in-relevant, or worst of all the person just donât like you.

Changing it from anonymous or revealing the personâs name wont change anything. What will/can you do if you know who disagree/dislike your post?

The current praise and dislike system will stay, however we will look into the points spread.

Receiving a few negative points should not be taken too seriously.

If you get dislike attack on your post you can directly report to me, but please ensure your post doesn't violate any forum regulation.

http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2691364-guide-to-point-system/

What is points?

You are awarded points when other members Praise your post. You are deducted points when other members Dislike your post.

Your number of points determine your Rank in the forum.

What is Praise and Dislike?

When you find a post useful, you should Praise it. This will increase the points of the poster. With more points, his rank will increase

The inverse is true for the Dislike function. If you find a post offensive, useless, off topic, etc, you should Dislike it. This will decrease the points of the poster. If the poster ends up with negative points, his account may be suspended or fall under moderation.

good time to remind all of MCF admin's stand. praise and dislike will stay on, so live with it [laugh]

I think everyone is saying the same thing.

Rather than anon dislike us.

If you dare come out and mass debate us.

If you scared scared then don't bother with your cowardly dislikes.

:D

Just from my experience travelling to HCM.

Lucky man it's one of my favourite places.

I am usually too busy doing other things than talk to their ladies.

So no complaints from me how they talk.
