Other than humps & pot hole, no need to jump over obstacle.

Yours is X game.

Mine is road riding.

I think my time(when I was actively riding), there were no proper connected PCN or pavements. There are always a step here and there. So we need to improvised. Also "hopping" from road to pavement and from pavement to road was the norm. Esp the stretch at Upper Bukit Timah road where there were huge dump trucks. Also to siam traffic lights.  :D

Just to keep cycling non-stop. Cos start-stop, very demoralising. :XD:

That's also why roadie nowadays chiong red light.

For road bike, it is difficult to do that.

Have cereal 1 hour before ride.

Bring along Chocolate bars & have it around half way mark.

I rode 100km with 2 gels in between only.

when i rode RI (about 120km), i don't eat anything before i start or during the ride. i only have 2 bottles of salt water to last me the distance.

for NTU Bike Rally (168km), i don't eat anything before i start, but ate the bananas and bread at every stopover from NTU onwards.

i don't believe in energy gels or energy bars cos they are so high in sugar and looking at their ingredient list i get scared.. too many names i don't know.

and my primary motivation to ride so long is to lose weight. if i eat, then become LPPL liao  [laugh]

Just wondering, nowadays you guys ride on the road no need jump over obstacle or ride down the stairs? I used to ride with full suspension MTB. Will jump over steps, hop over pavements with no slopes and ride down a 1 storey flight of stairs. Thatz urban riding for me.

If no front suspension, very painful on the arms on landing.

i ride a roadie.. road bike is for roads only.

no need to "chut stunt"   [laugh]

Wait till you try Di2. You will be hooked.

Roadie with Ultegra should be around 3-4k.

If not, look for Canyon if you are sure of your sizing.

Canyon? What is that?

Hi all - any comment/experience on fat bike usage.

Is the balancing easier / need more strength to pedal.

I had a Fatbike before my current bike. I liked it a lot. The big oversized tyres provide much comfort and stability. It looks like a Harley. In terms of performance, like a Harley too. The wide tyres is too draggy and u denitely feel it on the upslopes and longer journeys. Originally designed for soft ground like sand or snow, the low pressure due to the width allows u to tranverse soft ground better than regular bikes (but not much of that in SG).

It was the on the fatbike that I started cycling again. I did my first solo round-the-island on the fatbike. The last 20km was pure torture and pain.

In Singapore, i could ride with empty stomach.

In Beijing, if i ride empty stomach, sure die 1 with elevation gain of 2,000m.

For energy gel, i have been using Honey Stinger for some years already.  Main ingredient is Honey.

To me, endurance sports has to be a balance between input & output.

I will try your salt water this weekend.
