Thanks for answering that. Normally a bouncy or wobbly car would make occupants nauseous as the car would shake according to road imperfdctions.

Another query i am curious is regarding steering control. When in motion the steering wheel i understand can turn abit left or righ and yet the car will not change direction at all. But in that case how the car knows you genuinely want to change direction, by turning the wheel alot more? Is it more dangerous as need more reaction time? Is driving this car any different fr ur other rides in this aspect?

absolutely no issues in terms of wobbling or bouncing.  It doesnt.
its just a very basic car And therefore drives like any basic car.

it is of course totally different from all the premium continentals that ihave driven
its like comparing a Suzuki GN125 with a Ducati Diavel or a Triumph Rocket.  Almost no basis for comparison

However for someone like me who have not driven a basic entry level car since 20yrs ago, i have no problems with it Becos it is within my expectations.

therefore it is all about expectations.

understand and accept that the Jimny is just a toy, a different kind of toy and i bet you will be quite happy.  I am. At least for now😎

go test drive one lah.

Never drive both before, but pickups are not wobbly at all from my memories.

Definitely not wobbly. Neither are vans

i think people just compare with the wrong things.

Like how some people compare a Casio with a solid gold Rolex.  🤦‍♂️

Jimny is a ladder frame chassis similar to pickup.  Rather than bouncy, it is wobbly.

Likely due to its weight.

Most Jimny owners will jitao change the shocks to after mkt ones(EMU or Koni).

Stk shocks thin like F just why the bounciness..

They just want the off-road look lo.

Like put Jerry can and spade on tailgate

Old Emu has lift kit. Can drive Jimny through ponding🤭

I know.

It is usually for hardcore off-road use.

After Old Emu, change to more aggressive offset (either flash with fender or protruding) plus MT tyre.

on the steering part, there seems to be a bit more free play as you have described.
my other rides are all premium contis so there is no comparison really.  Very very different but nothing so bad that it would destroy the experience.

one advantage is the very small turning radius of the car. So for a place like SG, and any tight carpark it is quite ideal.

the only disadvantage is really the 4 speed auto which requires high rpm to get to speed.  But i am quite a relaxed driver even with all my sports cars so again, i can live with it.   Crusing speead of 80kmh is 2500rpm unlike my 3.5 liter SL which is 1.5rpm at 80kmh

remember, the Jimny is NOT your normal family car. It is a Lifestyle car.  So if you cannot embrace it , dont buy it.

still eagerly waiting for my goodies to arrive….. whoopee

The steering part I think would need time to adjust as this kind of offroad cars can turn many more round of steering road as it would allow very fine adjustment of direction. I watched videos that commented instead of half turn to turn other car 90°at junctions, Jimney need to turn the steering wheel 1 or 2 full rounds to do it. So is like need to remind yourself constantly that you need to turn more when driving else might be in trouble haha.

If you understand Chinese, the YouTuber below living in Japan did many many things with his Jimny. Very informative. Jimmy is really like a toy, with many screws located within the car to allow you to secure after market items easily. No need to drill, just locate nearest screws and viola haha.

Very keen but i am not like you so garang leh. I scared my wife pull my ears haha. Must go through more through process to convince her.

One thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger is that my Superb is really the opposite of Jimny, very spacious and powerful. Really cannot complain except for the badge. Jimny is no power and very compact interior space and tiny boot, and back passengers very mafan to get in and out. But then again, Jimny is really attractive in terms of design, something that tug at the hearts of every guy or most guys. Better think more and check out more before making the move haha.

my wife never inteferes with my car bike watch decisions. She says” you like you buy” so i only need to battle myself everytime.

So far i think i have answered your questions.  I just drove it out today, put on some Cuban Jazz and felt wonderful and happy. Absolutely no issues whatsoever. None of that bouncy issue or steering issue that you talked about.  Drove as usual, simple and comfy.   Even with the lack of luxury which i ALWAYS had, i am pretty happy bumming around with it.  I think its perfect for SG city driving which is 75% for me.

if you using it as a family car, better forget it.  Its a lifestyle car lah. For singles or folks without kids.  Its for fun bro!

i still have a GLC as a proper family car

Cheers
