Went to Genting Highlands last week, and took a cable car ride to the Awana Skyway Central (and Genting Highlands Premium Outlet).

Bought a car mount holder (@RM30) for my 7" phablet from the My Gadgets store.

Features .... sticky gel suction base, telescopic 2" slide, magnetic attachment (not shown in packaging) for phone.

My Caterpillar safety boots (Amazon.com, S$178) have to be replaced due to the soles splitting off. Mustafa Centre is selling at S$145.

However, stumbled upon the Skechers work boots with composite toe and memory foam insole @S$95. Size 42 was not available 2 weeks ago. Decided to try out the Skechers.

how do you find it after a week of wearing?

also, i think you can replace the sole of your Caterpillar, the top still looks in good condition.

I had only worn the Skechers boots twice. Comfortable due to the memory foam insole.

I enquired at a shoes repair shop in Jurong Point, by showing a photo of the sole. Estimated cost about S$40-45. I feel it is not worthwhile to repair.

*ref to your query, I am not in the construction line. In my previous job, there are occasions that I have meetings at industrial sites which requires safety boots to be worn. So I buy a nice looking pair to wear every day, even on road trips.

You can DIY by hitting some nails of the right size and glue.

Probably screws (instead of nails) and glue. However, the front portion of the sole is splitting off any moment. Decided to let the boots rest after 3-4 years of use.

The boots look to be in good condition still. You must really know how to take care of it.

He was saying he wear every day and even on road trips, that’s why I was wondering. Mine in a while looks used.

I think if go to those street side cobbler won’t cost so much to repair.

looks like well applied contact glue should solve the problem. Especially when you are using it as non-mission critical travel wear (compared to rigors of the construction site)

depends on where he goes lor... i wear mine to go out to site, so the top wears out quite fast.

This was my favourite footwear, go anywhere anytime, for work or leisure.  3 guys, on separate occasions, had commented that the Caterpillar boots  look nice. Occasionally wash with hand cleaner, which if gentle on hands should be ok for the boots.

Street side cobbler said cannot repair because of the honeycomb structure in the heel. Checked with them for my previous pair of Caterpillar boots with the same problem. So it is a good excuse to buy a new pair.
