Hm.. but all my tyres have this chipping on the outer side. I'm puzzled as well whether is it environment or quality issue. 2 of my front tyres have this issue too. but mine are CSC5P Do you park you car prolong on hot surface? for example 11am to 4pm Yes. UncleAtas Turbocharged August 27, 2017 Share August 27, 2017 How old is your tyre? These chipping is a normal occurrence for tyres with silica compound.
Ahbengdriver 6th Gear August 28, 2017 Share August 28, 2017 My Michelin PSS are 1.75 years old and running very close to the wear indicator. Also have some chippings. Rubber seemed to have hardened a bit but still ok to drive.
Terratoss 1st Gear August 28, 2017 Author Share August 28, 2017 How old is your tyre? These chipping is a normal occurrence for tyres with silica compound. My tyre DOM 5214(approx 22-28/12/14) My Michelin PSS are 1.75 years old and running very close to the wear indicator. Also have some chippings. Rubber seemed to have hardened a bit but still ok to drive. Whats the DOM of your tyre? Do you know how much more millimeters to wear indicator? Mine still have about 4.5-5mm on my 4 tyres. Ahbengdriver 6th Gear September 13, 2017 Share September 13, 2017 (edited) Whats the DOM of your tyre? Do you know how much more millimeters to wear indicator? Mine still have about 4.5-5mm on my 4 tyres. They are 2014 so 3 year old tyres from DOM approx. still has another 1.5 to 2mm to go before the wear indicator will be reached. Tyre is still grippy though, and thats what I like about Michelin and especially the PSS. Still can push the car fully loaded to 170/180kmh last week up north with absolutely no lost of grip . Its really "one cent one quality". I am considering to change to PS4 next but not sure if it is as good as PSS. My assessment tells me the tyres can still run for another 4 to 5 months maybe till next CNY 2018. Edited September 13, 2017 by Ahbengdriver

Roberttan 5th Gear September 16, 2017 Share September 16, 2017 Hi my tyre are having the same condition as the 1st picture shown, it is safe to drive on and would like to ask for advise for the next change Primacy 3st or Ps 4 is better? Thank you to me personally (picture 1) is still usable for basic usage may be you should ask the tire workshop to remove it out and do I wheel balance and have a closer look or inspection on the complete tire. should you able to see the Steel core or Fabric exposed , please replace it judging like this is not complete. If one feeling is not comfortable please go ahead and replaced it Reason why like : I guess is sort of surface hardened / to hard take off / fast acceleration / rubber compound. I am sure a Good Service provider is able to tell you more
