Yes will do it. SEAT agent recommended angel wax in ubi. Apparently very good reputation.

Side question: what paper work do you need to take the car across to Malaysia? How do you pay highway tolls on the Malaysian highways?

Hi Bro,

How much they quoted for the coating?

You better keep RoadTax and car insurance photocopy when you travel to Malaysia. Also you need to buy touch-and-go card to pay for Malaysia highway gantries as well as at the custom for the road toll.

Best regards,

Shamal

I used Happy Car, can search facebook for their contact info. They will come down to your MSCP to do the application. Price around $300.

Side question, anyone here installed the Hella DR820 managed to get the motion sensor recording to work? Mine doesn't seem to be recording once the car is parked and shut down.

Is it connected to battery for the parking mode?

I read from some bros that the hella camera provided by dealer is not set for the parking mode recording

They quoted $480.

I haven't received my car yet but they said this week it will be ready!

Did anybody try the wireless charging? Can you connect apple CarPlay with bluetooth or does it have to be wired?

Yeah connected to the battery directly.

SE told me that it does parking mode recording.

Sigh maybe should have just told him don't want the camera.

Wow! Looks amazing! How much you pay?

What's the difference between glass coating and ceramic coating?

Would like to know your opinion on SEAT 2 year extended warranty. With this option, you have to carry out all the servicing at SEAT service center to maintain the warranty. SE claimed that all the spares are compatible with WV and should not be an issue to find spares for Arona model. Does it worth to buy 2 year extended warranty for SGD 1,500 ? [thumbsup]

Understanding Glass coating, which is silicon dioxide resin is more superior, and better protection with watermarks

Dropped by SEAT at Ubi this morning, look see mainly, was looking at the Ateca but also touch, see the Arona.

Nice small SUV indeed. Fairly spacious as well, including the back seats. Only the centre portion was kinda tight due to the aircon and slim hump. But nice.

Saw many Aronas parked along the perimeter of the showroom, like 15 or more! Asked the SE but she gave some iffy reply which I catch no ball so didn't probe further.

Think this car deserves to be seen more in SG though...

Hi everyone!

As far as I’m aware, the nano coatings are great at the beginning but all need maintenance - so basically, you got to set aside some time and money to keep your coating in top condition whatever you decide to coat with anyway.

alternatively just bring your car in for a wash every now and then. From what I can tell, the Arona’s paintwork ain’t bad, even having driven up north frequently, I only count one or two chips, that’s pretty good. I got a traditional grooming package so let’s see whether the paint work will weather better than my previous cars - the grooming guy says the paintwork is decent lah, evenly applied, fairy thick and hardly any orange-peel effect. (Worst I’ve seen is on Subaru, take a look at the scratches at the door handles next time you come across a Subaru)

As for the $1500 for the extended warranty, yeah that’s not a small amount. I’d do it only because VW group cars have had previous reputation for being fussy cars, but so far I think the Arona is gonna hold up - I’ve been pretty savage while driving north and the car has taken it well, not a single rattle nor squeak. I’ve got free servicing till 20k km, so no indication what Vertex will charge for servicing, but I can’t imagine them charging too much lah (three cylinders and small oil sump). I’m more concerned with the fifth-year costs like changing the clutch, timing belt, brake discs etc - and hopefully don’t need to change engine mount and drive shafts etc, I would count those against the Arona. Also been reading about carbon build-up in direct injection engines; am not expecting this to affect the port-injected Arona but need to be mindful to blast out the carbon thru a couple of tanks of premium fuel and a long quick drive north.

I went to the motor show last week - a lot of cars now well priced (below $100k) but beware, I noticed a lot still come with rear drum brakes! Cost cutting in the extreme! Also checked out the size of back seats of a number of cars that are larger than the Arona - I don’t think they offer any more useful legroom or headroom than the Arona, you’d need to jump into Ateca class to get way more space. Even the Civic rear space isn’t much bigger, really, maybe just a little wider! I thot the new Polo was great value (has almost everything the Arona has incl Beats audio system, virtual cockpit and sunroof for $100k, funky interior too!), wouldn’t touch Mazda for the engines (ain’t gonna pay 2 litre road tax on a CX3), and hands-down ugliest car was the Lexus UX - I would only get inside this car with a paper bag over my head.

Sorry can’t help you Benji7. Mine was first batch and it took 5 months.

I’m guessing a lot of you will have been like me driving in heavy rain for the last few weeks. Happy to say the Arona has acquitted itself well in the wet conditions. But one day a warning sign lit up, and unlike my previous cars, there’s no explanation of the warning in any of the dashboard menu, I had to check the manual. Turns out that it was a warning that the front distance sensors were impaired by the rain. That probably impairs the auto emergency brakes too. So be careful and have a safe ride!

Is the warning sign  a  " ! "  in a triangle?  I had that once appearing briefly for few mins while driving in rain.... I couldnt figure out what in indicated.

Hi Weezersg. Er I think it was another symbol (it was quite some time back, my memory not very good), not a triangle with the exclamation mark (this symbol indicates to see the dash menu for more info). I think it’s on page 214 of the manual - it shows the car emergency brake symbol and an ‘off’ sign. Sorry ah, I don’t know how to post a pic of that page!

Even tho the manual has a list of warning lights (on page 121), it’s not a full list, you have to go and check out the specific function and see if there are dash lights linked to that function. Can’t imagine why they don’t put all the dash symbols in one table for easy reference!

Hi 4G63, no It’s not this one, pls do refer to page 214 of the manual - I can’t remember where the symbol showed up, but page 214 shows it’s where the trip distance display is (ie right bottom side of the central display). It’s not happened since that one last time, but it’s good to note that very heavy rain can affect the city emergency brakes (and it says so on page 214 too).

I was just reading the Autocar review of the new 911 4S and the writer made a good point - sporty cars nowadays can mostly be enjoyed only if you drive way too fast for normal road use - by extension, a car like the Arona, well suited for city driving, is more enjoyable to drive daily because the performance is so accessible (and it can still storm up Genting, last trip I passed an E class, an old 3, a Harrier, granted these aren’t sporty cars, but hey, most of the cars on our roads are made up of these anyway!). I was following a McClaren into a car park two days ago and watched how gingerly the driver had to negotiate the car park ramps, humps and small lots. I thot the Arona was way better at this and can carry all the shopping home as well! If I could afford a McClaren, I’d be sure to have a small hatchback/crossover for daily use!

Shopped for flowers for CNY over the weekend, and the boot with seats folded down swallowed 4 cartons of drinks, 2 kumquat plants, 2 large chrysanthemum plants, 6 pots of smaller assorted flowers and 8 tins of cookies - still had some space for more. I’m pretty impressed!

Also met a friend who bought a Kona 1 litre with manual - he thot the Arona was quieter, more stable and pretty well built, and the Arona was a bit more spacious. Says his chat group already identifying some small mechanical issues with the car, among which is carbon build-up in the cylinder head!
