U shld have moved to the center lane earlier if ur intention was not to exit. If u had signaled right.. it could have helped avoid the accident. That said.. the other car should bear full liability imho.

You are Lane A, but you drove into Lane B. But the other car also careless. Both at fault Edited June 18, 2017 by Mahjong74

Either way, insurance will ask for at least a 50 - 50 payment of damage. When you queue behind the bus when the traffic light was red, you should had filtered to the outer lane and stopped beside the bus. This way, you will use the second left lane to go straight to Newton Road. The car that knocked onto you had followed the first white pick-up of which you gave way to and he/she thinks the same that you will gave way also. Some drivers had totally forgotten how to drive in a roundabout as there are only a handful of them left in SG..... leeys 1st Gear June 18, 2017 Author Share June 18, 2017 Seems like its a 50-50,I should stayed on the 2nd lane too,The damage is not that huge,Seems like wouldnt be wise to claim insurance
Adrianlim13 2nd Gear June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 I live next to it and I take this circle every day. You will be surprised how many idiots don't know how to navigate this circle . Seriously if one were to miss a exit , go another round, don't force it way in . It is always the one turning into Scotts and bt timah that has an issue. When going straight, stick to the middle lane. The car that hit you , presumably is on your right so he is wrong, having said that, u should have turn on your right signal indicating u are not turning left . You are not in the right lane to go straight so I think 50/50 as most have mentioned
Hamburger Hypersonic June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 How can it be 50-50? If that's so, the pick up is also wrong to exit on that lane. It's a 2 lane exit, the car on cam car right side can either choose to exit like the pick up or continue with the circle. I feel cam car is liable of or 100% if you ask me. wlalala 4th Gear June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 You did not have the right of way. Most left lane is for exiting only.
t0y0ta Supercharged June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 Left most lane of roundabout is for exit only, so I will judge TS at fault... but I think it will be 50:50 on insurance claim. Best you all do private settlement.
leeys 1st Gear June 18, 2017 Author Share June 18, 2017 Thank you everyone for the advice, the other party does not wish to settle privately, nor does he wish to settle by Insurance We argued for awhile and he just left after exchanging particulars Now I am troubled,Should I make a claim or settle it myself(Damage about $100+ only)?I am also afraid that If I dont make a claim,And he claims against me,My premium is going to shoot up I am a first time insurance holder,No NCD yet

It's a 50-50 More importantly, file a claim tomorrow first thing By how I understand roundabouts work... u are on the wrong lane to go straight. U shld have moved to the center lane earlier if ur intention was not to exit. If u had signaled right.. it could have helped avoid the accident. Kangadrool Supersonic June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 depends on the arrow drawings on the lane. IIRC, Pandan Circle also had this problem last time (now that is gone) though Pandan one is pseudo-circle.
Vid Hypersonic June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 Hi Guys,Got into an accident this morning at Newton Circus Roundabout,Would like some advice if whether I am in the wrong or I had the right of way? Thanks Guys 1st Video(Before I entered the roundabout):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZJinuDgRgg 2nd Video(Full video of the accident):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_vfQ7YywNo Accidents could have been prevented if you planned your route earlier. Anyway, the car/taxi exiting should be looking for cars that continue to go around the roundabout. Unless that car is in front of you, the liability is on the inner lane cars. That means when drivers are in the inner lane going to exit a roundabout, they have to look out for vehicles on the left outer lanes. This is my opinion and I think it's either 20-80 to 0-100, depends on how your insurers go and argue about it.
Wt_know Supersonic June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 (edited) 50-50 ... but workshop always told me if the car on the right hit you on your rear door or bumper ... you have a case because your car already in front if the right car hit you on the driver's door mean 50-50 and you could possibly in more fault because you go straight instead of exiting roundabout i always blast the horn when most right/left lane car go straight instead of turn right/left nabei ... always cause kancheong moment and near miss accident Edited June 18, 2017 by Wt_know
Kangadrool Supersonic June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 Sounds strange to me. What he wants? A new car? Wt_know Supersonic June 18, 2017 Share June 18, 2017 may be he thought he got the case and want to "uplift" the whole car ... judging from the video with a little knock sound ... the impact should be not major? Sounds strange to me. What he wants? A new car?
