Summer transfer window 2017 - let's start the money rolling

Unfortunately, Pool didn't pull off the two major signings at the end.

Failed to agree fee with Monaco for Lemar. Did not even bid for VVD.

Sharing as it is, not going to hide.

What exactly happened I don't know. Not getting Lemar would mean Coutinho will be staying for now.

As for the person who scuppered the deal for VVD, it was Tom Werner the co-owner who leaked VVD's interest to the press. If he did not do that, things might have been different.

Sakho got his wish to move to Palace after all. Wish him well. Barkley was having his medical at Chelsea but changed his mind half way and returned to Everton.

All in all, this window did provide enough twists and turns to make it exciting. My apology to Pool fans for having your hopes up on VVD but ended we failed to get him.

That's the close of the window and possibly this thread. Time to focus back onto the pitch :)

Danny Drinkwater joins Chelsea. This an example of a deal which paper work was completed after the deadline. Still feel it's not the right move for him but who knows sometimes injuries n loss of form, suspension etc to others means a chance for him to show his worth.

Pool should consider signing up the entire Brazilian medical team. Cured Coutinho's sore back and he just scored a goal for Brazil. Miracle workers the lot :D

We should wish philippe coutiho well. So far he is the best player. As his wish is to play for barcelona is most footballer dreams. We did help him to get this far and for 148m £ is alots. Wish him well

If Southampton soften their stance and we signed VVD, I believe we will grant Coutinho's wish. Lemar already in place to replace him.

However, Southampton held on and we just have to do the same. Whether Barcelona bid or not is immaterial now. We won't sell.

After all the rumors.... super anti climax...

Agree bro.

I think this window really is a show of selling clubs digging deep.

lots of broken hearts need mending at the end, both players' and fans'.

Bubble will still get bigger for a few windows. Until ffp evolves to handle the situation.

The next round of up would be from player salary demands.

Without the hot money into football from non football sources. Bubble may not have the chance to get so big so fast.

Hope the clubs do not over extend themselves banking on future money or revenue.

I think transfer landscape has changed with many rich clubs... do not be surprised that in future most transfers will occur due to bosman ruling or the players being unwanted

Look at the size of bids rejected...

Sorry don't quite follow your point on VVD n Coutinho cos IMO they are 2 separate transfers of players in different positions. IMO, it's the Lemar transfer that possibly had a bearing on Coutinho not moving out I feel cos of the amount of money involved and also Lemar could indirectly be a replacement for PC. Either way, time for Pool, PC n the fans to close ranks, move on n pull in the same direction.

VVD and Coutinho forcing the move. Both threw transfer request and tantrum.

Just feel that if VVD is granted his wish while we held back Coutinho to get his move, we will be looking bad. Not sure if FSG felt the same but this is my personal view.

Just my own grades on the top 6 transfer dealings this window, feel free to disagree:

A grade: Man U n Man C- got almost all their targets except Perisic n Sanchez respectively but those 2 are good to have, not a must have so good window for the Mancs who both hv a squad capable of a title challenge.

B grade: Liverpool- got almost all their targets bar VVD but as he was the most important target, they couldn't get an A grade. Lemar was also a good to have though he would be a must have if they had lost Coutinho. Upgraded squad compared to last season but defence still a ?

C grade: Chelsea, Spurs- Whilst Chelsea got a few good buys, they lost out on a few first choice targets and also as they lost so many players, they didn't really buy enough replacements. Their squad has a good first X1 but not enough depth IMO. Spurs only lost Walker but bought 3 others but still feel they could have done with a few more quality players.

Ungraded: Arsenal- Arsenal only lost Ox but brought in Lacazette n Kolisinac so actually they are stronger but cant help feel that they could have done with a few more quality signings to boost overall moral for the club and esp the terraces.

You got a valid point. I'm reading that John Henry was adamant on not going against his word on VVD cos it is his business style to behave with integrity which I credit him for doing so but it comes at a price to Pool for sure. Likewise he is also adamant on not letting PC leave and true to his word, even a big carrot failed to tempt him and this surely would silence any FSG doubters once n for all.

Chelshit once again tried to do a willian on spurs. Wan2 potong jalan to sign aurier...whom which spurs paid for his medical and together to appeal for his visa.. once his visa is approved. Chelshit wan2 jump in and buy him.

Levy anticipated this b**tard club trying to pull stun, earlier on signed an exclusive on aurier, pending on outcome of visa.

This so called football club chelsea thus who always play dirty despite being a girls name thus failed to pull a willian this time.

And tia gong chelski wan2 buy llorente but spurs stole a march by agreeing a price with swansea hours b4 deadline.

Whatever happened during the medical in london we dunno. Some said many chelski representatives also tried again to do a willian again?

But this time round again. They missed out.
