Unless you fail in your Maths .

Yup, I failed my maths. Show us how good your maths is.

And my 2nd question?

Bro, tell me which business is not, and who doesnt need to increase margin?  [laugh]

Altis is already a sell by itself car, almost like take it or leave it. What better way to increase bottom line without doing anything beside printing some new price list?  [:p]

Of course that is provided in the line ups, cars like vios and camry enjoy the same advantages, otherwise the gap in the line up will mess up. ^_^

Agreed, if I were BM, I might also increase margins but of course I posting from buyer's point of view and hope they don't increase margins.

Anyway, S'pore buyers not stupid and as seen in MCF, some guys actually calculate the margin n use this as a criteria when choosing cars so it may backfire if they increase margins but this Altis so popular that even if some people shun it, likely a marginal impact only, cheers!!

Of corse buying others brand if Altis increase price .

Corolla prices will increase.

Problem is that buyers use the current clearance prices as a benchmark.

The 2017 version will increase in price. And they know they will still be popular and still cheaper than all the other current choices in its range.

The current price can say BM price it almost no profit and is fair to increase price for the new facelift.

But then which car will cheap come next year?  [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

Don't be surprised if most might . With purchases brought forward in anticipation of the VES, and with almost same number of COEs available early next year, COEs could fall below today's  prices in early 2018. And ADs may bring in models with new engines that comply with the new stiffer requirements.

Has happened previously. Will likely repeat again.

The problem with buyers, is many fail to look at the whole equation. We are just part of it, and so many times we get upset because we think "I" am important, but A doesnt buy, there will always be a B, C,D in the queue. The Altis is the the best selling in its class not  for no reason.

If I am the BOSS, between a person who increase profit with the same unit sales,  and another who increase profit with increase sales, The former gets a promotion. Anyway, those who buy base on margin will always go for the car with the least margin, it may or may not be an altis to start with. Mayb this car today and change mind tomorrow, this type waste time lah.  [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

Turbocharged

Accent, nissan Amela and Suzuki swift sport.

From what I know, only these few models have manual gear and the price diff is not much compare to auto but the features r very basic, thus I bought an auto gear for other model

Perodua Bezza also comes in manual and is cheapest of the lot at $76,000

Best of all, it comes with a Toyota engine.

Quiet spacious too, though the interior quite plastic. But if im looking for new car now, I will be looking at this model

+1

If a buyer has a fixed budget, he will adjust his target accordingly.

However, the trouble with the marginal buyer is that he may refuse to lower his sights, and end up with a tier 3 bid for a car, then complain or feel frustrated that he didn't get it.

On the other hand, instead of the Corolla, there are other choices which are 10k less, and this can be used to offset the VES.

But on that note, the traditional choices of Mazda, Hyundai, Nissan and Honda will all cost more than the Corolla, so a Yaris or Honda City perhaps?

People who will buy altis or vios today in Singapore are diff kind of market which take time long to penetrate.

Fyi, Altis is already not the most popular car in SG.

With the new CEVs or Ves, sales will most likely drop for cars like mz3 and qq. And the ultimate uncle car will rise

I want to believe our government wants to creates a situation here where consumers will get the best value for the money they paid for the car. So whoever priced themselves out of the race, too bad.

Of course the mentality of the consumers, the government cannot predict or control. So, it is up to the individual to decides for themselves.

The only unhappiness I have with the current system is, it is not a level playing field. More needs to be done to protect consumers. That is my opinion.
