not saying what i am about to write is correct.....but if that boy was given a tight slap when he was younger for trying such a stunt i wont think he would have tried crossing over the glass panel let alone walking on such a structure. Our society now prefer the soft approach but there are many stupid accidents happening every now and then.....the girl who died trying parkour is such! Not that i condone violence hor! But for some kids thats the only way they will learn!

Different kids need different methods. Some may need the cane though I have not applied on mine so far. With due respect to the kid and his family, this is a general remark, not specific to the incident or any others. Edited by Pocy

I thank God you not my father. Otherwise I self ownself check ownself and admit myself to IMH.

PS I agree with you completely, this Western definition of Child Abuse gone abit too far. We adults should set examples for our kids. A simple spank on the backside, adult parent needs to go to jail. They never think about the subsequent consequences such as destroying the relationship better child and parent. The West at Guantanamo what did they to the prisoners. How are our impressionable kids (teenage) going to take home ... what kid of message?

i hope not! We were close when he was young, vert close! He started walking at 9 month old....i have pictures of those......and when i was working nights i would bring him down to run around when i got back home. He would watch me play playstation and when he got old enough we would play games together. He would even wait for me at the balcony watching me park my bike when i return from work. Thats how close we were and thats why he felt sad when i ignore him. A bit of reverse psychology to drive in the point is sometime needed. Now he is 23 yo liao......must treat him like a man already!

Seems the teenage leaped over instead of climbing over.

Make lots of different in terms of impact upon landing.

i rather use a cane than use my bare hand and yes all kids are different and need different approach. Use the cane when they are younger because ones they are older the use of cane serves only as a wedge between the parent and the child. Cant say at what age should we stop using the cane.....thats why i chosed the ignore function. But dont ignore until one day he finds a replacement hor....by then it will be too late!

that girl with him will live with this shock for the rest of her life

He did not know that the parapet was like a false ceiling material

Now that this incident happened SCDF/URA/BCA  will ask all buildings now to check and see if they have such structures to put "No Step" just like aircraft wings

Looks like the girl was filming him jumping over.

Moment of folly .........................

......................haunting her for the rest of her life

........... kids nowadays quite daring but never think unlike our time in Kampungs mostly end up in longkangs usually...... our toys or marbles or what not

Frankly I question the design of the building to have such platform that cant even hold much weight.

Whether any one should go over is a another thing.

The use of chipson board is questionable to me.

The parapet could be use to hide trunking and wires of the building and not meant to be step on. Or it could simply be a building design fascade. As long as its not used for support of the structure I dont think BCA can fault it. But moving forward still hope BCA can use this accident to ask contractors to label the danger. Today it may be a shopper but it could happen to anyone, perhaps a cleaner or maintenance guy who is not for some reason not briefed before conducting his duties... Edited by Pocus

I just ask my daughter who turn 17 today. What she think about this case?

She replied that guy had no brain.

Girls usually have better common sense.
