Su27 1st Gear February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 Given a choice, which will you choose? One is a questionable gearbox. The other with unclear diesel future. Would appreciate any enlightenment. TIA ↡ Advertisement
Melody288 2nd Gear February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 Sharan is using the golf GTi engine and 6 speed DSG gearbox. Should not have any issue. The FL Sharan's engine is Euro 6 compliance.
Spring Moderator February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 Sharan is a full MPV so if u need to ferry 7 regularly, this would obviously be the choice. The 6sp wet GB don't think has any adverse issues unlike the 7sp dry version found in Golf. 2GT is more of a 5+2 for occasional users of 7 seats. The drive of the 2GT is good considering it's only 1.5l but perhaps better to wait for tmr's budget announcement on what's going to happen to diesel vehicles as if it's prohibitive then no point going the diesel route. Good luck!

7hm Turbocharged February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 I like the 216d GT more, but I guess it depends on the overall requirements you have.
Thaiyotakamli Supersonic February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 216 has better style, better fc and of cos better badge and equipment level But sharan is more spacious, true mpv to carry 7 passengers and petrol (some dun like diesel) It all boils down to ur requirement For me i would get sharan to accomodate my family members and also looking for bigger space. If i am alone driving the car most of the times and occasionally carry 7 passengers then i would go for 2GT
Fcw75 Hypersonic February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 (edited) If can afford, Sharan for sure. Questionable gearbox? The 6 speed DSG gearbox is a gem. As long as not the 7 speed dry one. Been driving one with 6 speed DSG for 9 years 6 mths and almost 170000km. Flawless, quick and concise. Just change gearbox oil and filter every 40K. Su27 1st Gear February 19, 2017 Author Share February 19, 2017 Actually the car will be used to ferry to pre-schooling kids to and fro school. Once in a while, outings will bring maid and wife (the other maid). And once in a blue moon, in-laws along to outings. I have seen both cars. Sharan's interior equipments are comparable to 216d's. But 216d is abit cramp on the second row. And its 3rd is miserable. But of course, its badge is one major trump card. Let's wait til tomorrow's budget bomb explosion, and see what car categories are left standing. If you worried about problems, buy Japanese or Korean the Best, but at all cost, avoid the French ... Yup. Was taught this formula since day one. Actually those days was buy jap, avoid korean and French. But I guess Koreans have improved much since. Benarsenal Turbocharged February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 Depends on what you want and need la. Sharan is a lot bigger than the 2GT. So if you need the space go for the Sharan. ↡ Advertisement
