But shang yang was killed by Qin ... ironically

As one brother pointed out, he was one of the first to introduce law to govern a country.

However most of the policies he introduced were at the expense of the rich and powerful.

He even had the nose of the crown prince's teacher cut off due to some misdeed commited by the crown prince.

Though the crown prince who succeeded the throne ordered his arrest and execution, he adopted his way to rule the country which lays the foundation for Qin to be a super power of it's time.

Shang Yang may not be credited by historians for the unification of China. But without him, the Qin state might remained a babaric state and may even be wiped out by the other states.

When the crown prince took over the throne and later passed away , one of his wife became one of the earliest woman to rule a country

yes . They had some link in the past.

In fact the XiongNu had many tribes internally and they fought each other all the time. Some already

moved to the west before the Han drove the dominate one out to the west

Like the old saying, 分久必合,合久必分. This never changes.

Modern history of China remains a very perplexing segment to me. Many Jews remember China as a safe haven during WW2 from the Holocaust. Yet before WW2 broke out, Nazi Germany actually has some sort of close military collaboration with KMT. If you google, some German adviser envisioned a 60 division military for China. When the Japs went banzai, very little divisions had achieved IOC but these units gave the Japs a hard run for their money.

There was one guy that particularly walloped the Japs hard. This man was General Sun Li Ren. Check out his entry in wikipedia.

The problem is before there were newspapers, not everyone records history in detail like China. Since at least Han, China has officially appointed historians to record all important events in detail (史官). In some civilization, a lot of the so-called history include mostly victorious battles, religious or myths and hearsay. One can imagine, the tribes didn't record as much in detail so mostly we can only depend on the Chinese records, and bits and pieces elsewhere.

I think earliest correct record about the XiongNu tribes could date back to the warring period.

There were official records then . But those b4 that like the Shang and Xie , its hard to tell.

Those written by shima qian about the internal tribe fights were likely true because Han Wu Di does sent a ambassador to the West to look for another tribe , thinking of joining forces with them .

That's why archeology is important in verifying facts from myths, sometimes finding new facts.

usually archeology is an educated guest. They find an artefact than they try to piece it together. Current history of our earth and civilization are always updated and changed everytime they find something older. Gobekli Tepe (not sure its correct or not) is one.....it changed and pushed the idea of ancient civilisation even further....but some say its a hoax.

Archaeology must be correlated with historical records or other findings to make an educated guess. If just based on archaeology than it is very hard to establish facts. I can also write some nonsense, bury it today, and hope someone will find it 300 years later to record it as history.

Shih Huang Ti's Terracotta army was never recorded in history, even though the army is so huge and there are still a lot more yet to be excavated. It is almost impossible to fake something of such scale.

err bro.....thats why we only know about our history only when human started to invent writing and kept records of it. We have been on earth much longer then that but writing has been around for only about 5000yrs.

Your good friend @Eviilusion looking for you 10,000 years ago . You are late :D

you dont gibe me nightmare hor....
