Although I see many MT Malaysian cars, most of the stolen Singaporean cars are AT..unless the cars are the classics like civics or accord etc. MT gearbox hardly break down and its mostly auto boxes that need replacement so if the demand is there then they will be stealing auto cars for the boxes. But a lot of parts are interchangeable so car thieves will target the ones that are parked that can be most easily stolen. ↡ Advertisement

Conventional wisdom says it should be safe since the car is made there but cant be too careful on such stuff. Plan to visit sometime next month but having second thoughts after hearing all the car jacking stories. Alamak Sam... What is there to fear about driving a Perodua car into Malaysia? They have plenty of Bezzas buzzing in Malaysia la, every turn is a Bezza and some are better mods and better looking than what we can afford here... They want to nick an SG plate of their own make, waste time and energy only. For all you know, the said car-jackers also drive a Bezza :P

I didnt see many Bezzas during my drive on Sat but hearsay there are alot on JB roads from my colleagues who go there often. I saw many more Sagas and Axias though. Perocom Singapore said it is under power, so never bring in to Singapore. Perocom not bringing in the Standard G variant not because of under power. The 1.0L engine(same as Axia) was slapped with a 20k VES surcharge.
