Anyways, would be good if Cnc offered prospective buyers the option of indenting cars with the suite of active safety features, like they do with the Mercedes franchise. Especially when they are selling aspirational vehicles like the Stinger. ↡ Advertisement

pbswiss 1st Gear August 7, 2018 Share August 7, 2018 The Stinger being a fairly long car, wouldn't it be quite challenging to parallel park without the aid of a 360 degree camera? Or does the two models here come with front parking sensors also?
Taichizi 1st Gear August 7, 2018 Share August 7, 2018 360 degree camera can install locally 3rd party ones. SE says might void warranty though. For LKAS and collision detection, there is also a 3rd party option which supplies similar technology to some manufacturers. each of these will cost around almost 2k each but at the possible expense of electronics warranty :) That's the problem with buying cars from AD.... any mod on the electronics will void warranty.... Buying from PI.... probably don't really care about their warranty after 6 months of driving.... can mod til your pants drop...
Taichizi 1st Gear August 7, 2018 Share August 7, 2018 My attempt to bring the thread back on topic. I think the Stinger looks good in all colors. But for my character I don’t want it to be attracting attention or too loud so my initial shortlist was Dark Chroma Blue, White or Black. (I chose Black with red leather in the end) 5 different drive modes. Sport+ turns off traction control. Our local 2.0T is RWD so sometimes easy tail happy and lose control. I think you can indent with AWD if you want, at the cost of additional waiting time + $$$. I’ve seen both variants (2.0T and 3.3 v6) performing faster in 0-100km/h in RWD setup though. I’ll probably be on Sports mode most of the time. I haven't seen any market that offers Lake Stone colour... Is that green? Interestingly, I have seen many reviews featuring the Eco, Comfort, Smart, Sport and Custom while the Sport+ seemed to be available for the earlier batch of reviews. I remember SG models don't come with Sport+ And, I thought Sport mode allows one to deactivate the stability & traction controls.

Or does the two models here come with front parking sensors also? I don’t think will have that much of a problem parallel parking the Stinger. Total length 4.83m only and still smaller than current E class. That said, should have parking sensors upfront based on showroom 2.0T Stinger. Taichizi 1st Gear August 7, 2018 Share August 7, 2018 Ours have Sport+ mode. Lake stone is a very unique light grey color. Difficult to explain how it looks like. I wonder if there is Sport+ for 3.3.... wow... it would be insanely aggressive putting the 3.3 on Sport+ mode.... I remember there is a Smart mode in one of the variants... Have you found any photos of Lake Stone Stinger? Never seen one in the Net.... If Lake Stone were grey, there would be 3 different types of grey offered on the Stinger.... coz I assume Ceramic Silver is actually part of the grey family.... Theoldjaffa Hypersonic August 7, 2018 Share August 7, 2018 Use judgement.Exactly! Judgement sums it up. It doesn't matter the length of the car. What matters is the size of the lot. If the parallel lot is not long enough due to the car in front and back taking up space, find another lot lor. Just like if a normal vertical lot is tight, we also won't park right. The emphasis on (unnecessary) aids is too high nowadays. We all learnt driving and parking without those aids.

redstuff 4th Gear August 11, 2018 Share August 11, 2018 Owners of Sunset Yellow Stinger in USA gets $5,000 in addition to paint repair!!
iwonder 1st Gear August 11, 2018 Share August 11, 2018 Yes, we depend on too many parking gadgets nowadays. A pair of reverse sensors is good enough for me already. GPS were uncommon about ten years ago as everyone tells me why need it as Singapore is so small. Car reverse cameras were also uncommon many years ago. Now both GPS and reverse cameras are very common. My current ride doesn’t have the parking assistance now but i think that it is useful and nice to have for some people like my wife, who has difficulty parallel parking.
Ake109 6th Gear August 12, 2018 Share August 12, 2018 Has this paint issue affected any local cars? and copied from youtube comments (not me): Im from Sydney, Australia and was one of the first in the world to take delivery of a Sunset Yellow Kia Stinger last October.I had placed a $2000 deposit for the car without seeing one or driving one and waited many months for it arrive. The total cost of the car was $65k.About 24hrs after I collected the vehicle, I noticed a significant chip in the paint. What followed was an alarming number of paint chips and also a variation in the colour between panels. I had some very tense and honest discussions between myself, the dealer and Kia Australia. The car was inspected three times and they then asked for me to approve “destructive testing” of the bonnet at their paint manufacturers facility in Eastern Creek, after which they would replace the bonnet with a brand new resprayed one.I considered my position and approved the testing as long as I could be present for the testing and have results of the report. They said no. There was then numerous phone calls back and forth about options to resolve the issue. I had always asked for a total respray as I otherwise love the vehicle. This was denied time and time again. They offered to buy the vehicle back and give me a full refund. I asked why not a replacement and was told that it wasn’t an option. I then asked what would stop me from just walking into a dealer and buying another one? They told me that they would put my name on a list of all dealers, refusing to sell me any Kia vehicle. It was at this point that I got quite angry and told them that I would not be accepting any other resolution other than respray and if they wouldn’t do that, I would park the paint chipped vehicle out the front of various major Kia Dealers over the weekends with a big sign advising of the problems I had and would go to the press. Then finally after many months of trying to play hardball, they inspected the vehicle once more and agreed to do a bare metal respray on the entire car, which took six weeks and a total cost of about $20k which included them providing me a loan vehicle. From what was explained to me as the process went on and the car was stripped and tested, they identified that this issue exists on EVERY Kia Stinger manufactured to date (over 5000 globally) and the issue is that they only applied an etch primer on the raw panels and then applied a white base coat which they baked at high temperature for a considerable amount of time. Then they applied the colour and clear etc and baked again.Apparently there shouldn’t normally be an etch primer nor should they fully bake the white base coat. They did it apparently because they were having issues with the paint adhesion on the bonnet, So they developed this process and rather than just use it on the bonnet, they did the whole car so there wasn’t any cosmetic difference. However the process is not a proven way of making paint adhere. It was suggested that they were desperate to get the car into production and meet deadlines to they did what they had to, which has ended up with where we are today. When they removed my front and rear bumpers, paint was literally flaking off the concealed surfaces. They also replaced both bumpers and the bonnet. The bonnet was replaced as the original was used in destructive testing at PPG at Eastern Creek in Sydney and then sent to Korea is my understanding. There were also executives from Korea, in Australia who inspected my vehicle.Apparently any warranty claim greater than $5k, must be approved by head office in Korea. So it isn’t Kia US or Canada or Australia that you will be battling. They will most likely be on your side even though it didnt seem it.Even during respray, it took quite a bit of effort to get the body in a clean condition and rid of all of the original etch primer and base coat. You can just tell now how much better the paint is. It even looks and feels thicker (stupid I know)The scary thing is that this issue is NOT restricted to a certain colour/s. After getting my car back, I joined a number of Facebook and online forums dedicated to Kia Stingers and was horrified to see a large number of people having the same issue. Although I was told to keep quiet when they agreed to respray my vehicle, once I saw the amount of other owners who were struggling to get anywhere with a resolution from Kia, I decided to post my story on these forums and offer to assist with advice however I could. As a result I have seen and heard from owners all over the world and have had reports for EVERY colour. To date, my car is the only one in the world that I know of that has been resprayed. As the voices have been getting louder over this issue, Kia have withdrawn certain colours from sale but have refused a recall and have been publicly silent on the issue while playing hardball with individual owners. While I know they are now helping owners of yellow Stingers, I refuse to give up until they fix all colors. My issue is fixed and I could walk away happy, but I can’t do that knowing other people are not being treated fairly.
