Is it becos of allergy ?? I heard quinoa is a substitute ... though rye breads have been around... must go to high end bakeries ; used to be German one in Siglap but closed down or moved , also used to be one in Frankel ave

Actually I miss the bakery in Carrefour ..... they had fantastic breads of sorts and the old Yaohan Banderole (dont know if spelt correctly) ... it was like donkey years back never even seen so many breads/pastries in my life back then when they first opened at Katong (old SeaView Hotel )back then 40 years or so back. Those days only know of Katong Bakery (Red House) and standard 5-6 type of breads only

Ahh... now I remember the name .... Werners Oven.... i heard last it was in Joo Chiat Road.... haven't been there too in a long while too; First they used to be in Simpang Bedok and moved to Siglap and now Joo Chiat ..... I think rentals are a killer and high end breads costing over $5-$10 is not affordable for many .....

On second thoughts, why not bake yourself? Got those bread making machine. Easy to do and u can control the ingredients. Can customise to add in dried fruits and nuts. The healthiest stage of bread

 

Buying special breads from outside is not cheap, which can bake at home

.. but i think main active ingredient is still flour (wheat)  and need to ferment too, TS wants wheat free bread ; hence maybe he can try quinoa; one of my friend takes it , but i never got round to asking where, why and how (if he makes) breads but I am sure there are similar bread like recipes..... I think gooooooogling will help TS actually better

if you are gluten intolerant...that there are some other grains similar to wheat have to avoid too. Cold storage got sell GF breads by some bakery..but not cheap.5-6 dollars. Companies like organ or bobs red mill(I think) do sell GF bread mix. A Bread making machine will make life easier if you do eat bread regularly. But GF bread texture not same as wheat bread...
