Most likely the 10 years loan is not leasing scheme. If I'm not wrong the leasing scheme let you choose between certain number of years up to maybe 7 years max, you pay lower upfront dp but higher monthly instalment and you don't have ownership of the car, after the lease amount of year is up you have a choice between buying back the car at the car value or sell it and pay back its value. 10 years loan is probably taking their in house loan where you offset the car value at a certain number of years from the downpayment and instalment and you pay it back during the remaining years, catch is you have to pay very high interest for 10 years

For leasing no because the car is registered under the finance company, your name wont even appear on the car registration details that's what I understand. In simple words, you are just renting the car with full authority to do whatever you like with it. For the in house you are still paying the dp according to MAS rules but after a certain year you have to maybe 'repurchase' in order to refinance to extend the loan. I may be wrong but the idea is there.

Test drove the Ioniq this weekend.  SE told me the 10 year/200k km free service package is available for just this bidding cycle.  Didn't ask about the financing.

I wonder why Komoco is not bringing in the blue color to Singapore.  I'm not a fan of grey/black/white, so the only color that's ok is the orange, which still isn't so nice.

Maybe because it looks like Comfort taxi?

They are trying so hard to sell this model!

If the design is like Elantra, confirm sell like hot cake.

Personally i fell the back seat n boot too small for me. So i choose the Elantra instead. But if Elantra goes hybrid, i will confirm try it out.

Neutral Newbie

Test drive the car 2 weeks ago, built of car is good with all safety features plus electric and memory seat setting for driver.  The ride is good and when switch to sports mode, the require response is there.

Only down side for the car is the infotainment screen, compare with what's being offer in other countries like UK and US, they have larger screen and features are much more richer in this area.

It will be great if they offer the option to upgrade the infotainment system.

Still considering to change the family 2nd car, which is hardly use, maximum mileage is less than 10K per year.

Thought of paying S$118K and hardly use, can feel the pain, if it is less than 100K, it will be no brainer in decision making.

Then you might as well swap and use this as your main car... save fuel...

Can't do that, current main car is a SUV and most of the time is used by wife to ferry son for all activities as she preferred to drive a SUV, siting high up and better visibility.

This kind of bodystyle is more aerodynamically efficient. It uses a kamm-back principle as does the Prius, though it is executed in a less ridiculous fashion than the current Prius. The hatchback also provides more practicality.

But yes, it seems the Elantra's packaging is better in terms of rear legroom.

Korean cars have remarkable reputations for reliability elsewhere in the world

Bear in mind these JD Power surveys are a bit different though, they tend to be more about "initial quality" and not about the kind of long term reliability you might be thinking of. Even "slow infotainment system" is a negative mark which is what killed Ford's rating some years back when the MyFordTouch system was introduced.

I guess initial quality ratings are pretty indicative of what you would get... once the car is older, then expect more gremlins... but when new, and you have horrendous reliability already like Alfa Romeo, then I guess that's not acceptable at all... I think everyone expects a brand new car to be 100% reliable with no major mechanical or electronic problems...

I suppose it does depend on what one is expecting or their personal definition of the term. For me the reliability people are often talking about is; will it break down a lot, cannot start because engine oil pump broke, radiator busted a leak, etc., things that prevent you from actually driving off or require a servicing to fix in order to drive safely - things related to suspension platform, chassis or drivetrain.

I would not consider creaking, buggy infotainment, hard plastics, etc. metrics for that sort of reliability. But just as you say, initial quality can be fair indication of expectations down the line. If it has a transmission failure right out at 727km, be prepared to expect it again...  <_<
