Incubus22 Clutched January 3, 2017 Share January 3, 2017 If budget is a constrain, try Nissan Note. I bought one for my wife and we absolutely love the space. The rear can put 2 baby seats side by side and my helper still have good space for herself. ↡ Advertisement
Atrecord Supersonic January 3, 2017 Share January 3, 2017 For me, i had 2 young kids age, 1 and 4 plus i had elderly parents. So family outing is usually 6 pax so Edix fits me perfectly. Elderly parents no need to crawl to 3rd row, i had a easier time securing kids in child seat (back row) and booster seat(front middle seat). And boot can hold a pram and groceries. Ever ferried 4 adults (less than 1.7m) on the back row on staggered and its comfy enough due to the width of the car. 7 seat mid size MPV will be ideal for those who had kids that are old enough for at least a booster seat. Otherwise, either the elderly had to crawl to 3rd row or u have to struggle to secure infants or toddlers on the 3rd row seats. You're right. Edix is wide and does give enough width comfort to passengers sitting side by side. I think even Estima, Ody are not as wide as Edix. The only advantage of the 3-row MPVs over Edix is when you need to squeeze people lor. I ever took 8 in my Wish before, with wife and 2 kids (when younger) in 3rd row, and 3 adults in 2nd row. That I think, Edix will not be able to do. When we had 2 child seats, we had to resort to putting one on 2nd row, and one on 3rd row. It was indeed tough putting the seat on 3rd row, and carrying the baby to put in it.

Atrecord Supersonic January 3, 2017 Share January 3, 2017 Wish is really spacious. Managed to get 4 kids in 3rd row, 4 adults in second row and me and my wife in the front. Lol. But dangerous. I would say few come close, in the same category. But in terms of width, many cars are wider than it, i noticed. So squeezing 4 adults in 2nd row is a tad tight (as compared to, say, Altis) in terms of shoulder space. But because the seat is not encroaching on the rear wheels like a normal sedan, there is less protrusion on the seat so it comes across as more comfortable. Not sure whether Edix has the problem of a normal sedan rear seat, or is it also flat like in Wish. If it's flat too, then it will be really spacious, width-wise. For Edix, rear seats comprises of 3 single seats with flat floor so 4 medium size adults in staggered arangement is comfy.

Rayoflight 5th Gear January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 Actually most cars are quite ok behind.. minus the intrusive transmission tunnel + flat rear seats + thinner doors
Kangadrool Supersonic January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 (edited) Quite easy to design and build spacious cars....in small shell. Just raise the height of the rear bench seat, shorten the seat, thin the back rest, make the seat more upright, boxy the shape, there you have one. But will be "uncomfortable" for long ride exceeding 1 hour, will catch winds instead of cutting through winds. Your car and you will feel tired for extended drive. Used to drive such car (small outside but "BIG" inside) before changing out to current one (BIG outside "small" inside). World's of difference even both are B&B rides. Atrecord Supersonic January 4, 2017 Share January 4, 2017 For Edix, rear seats comprises of 3 single seats with flat floor so 4 medium size adults in staggered arangement is comfy. OK... Did you mean the floorboard is flat, or the back of the seat is flat across from left to right? For most 2-row cars, the back of the 2nd row seats is not flat, as it tends to encroach on the space taken up by the wheels. So the back(rests) will curve near the door, which is uncomfortable for the passengers. MPVs on the other hand, mostly have 2nd row seats betw the front and back wheels, so there's nothing blocking and the whole seat/back flat from left to right. It is the 3rd row seats that are 'squeezed' by the rear wheels. Is Edix second row also flat? If so, that's very good and comfortable.

Floor is flat for both front and rear for the Edix. i.e. from left to right One good thing that I discover when I bought the Edix, the middle seat on the front and rear can be adjusted a good 20cm backwards to accomodate passengers with long legs while the back-rest for all 3 single seats at the rear can recline about 3 inches if passengers like to have a more relaxed seating posture. Tedlhw 5th Gear September 29, 2019 Share September 29, 2019 Reviving an old thread.. i currently use a Q7 that i bought new last year.. I have a configuration issue, so need some advice. Q7 is a 2-3-2 config. My constraint is that I need to put 3 child seats. With 3 kids, 2 who are 1 years old(full child seats) and 1 at 5yo(booster seats) i need at least one of my maids to follow. Sometimes we get both to come when we need to chill abit. So 6 pax minimum when going going out weekends. Because of the config,i need to fold up one mid row seat to allow people to get into 3rd row the 2 small ones need to sit side by side. But this means we cannot really reach the young one near the door. I used to put the 2 small ones beside the 2nd row doors, but 3rd row person cannot go in, so i need to take the child seat in and out..Gan siong I will change car if i have to, (albeit very very reluctantly) to reduce the pain of going out... cos now is gan sian every time we go out.. Havent start car already sweat like a pig. Before i make another mistake, thought i'd gather knowledge and experience from bros here, cos change car waste money Advice needed 1) Anyone got such issue and how do you solve it? 2) (If change car) Also, does a 2-2-3 config like an alphard/estima/odyssey really solve it? 3) (If change car) Is it also just as siong to carry one all the way to the 3rd row and put in child seat? Long run, does it really work? 4) (If change car) Alphards, really drive like bus... does anyone have real issues getting into most carparks? Or just estima comfy enough? Mpv like Velfire is in fact lower and shorter than your Q7, so currently any places that your Q7 could go, Vellfire would make it. You may want to see if there is any 2,3,3 config instead of 2,2,3. Odyssey while is a full size MOV, the luggage space is small comparing with hat of vellfire, third row seat of Ofyssey is quite narrow for three adults as well.
