I guess bro it depends on what you are after. If you have a specific budget and it tends towards the cars like Hyundai or the like, they are selling pretty well so they may not offer a bigger discount.

Some others which need to fulfil numbers, like Ford, VW perhaps, need to sell to keep their dealerships?

These might be more willing to listen and offer you deals. So if you have a budget to meet, but no specific car to go for, your flexibility will pay off [thumbsup]

I'm looking at Hyundai and Nissan, indeed both don't have much discount.

IMHO, if you can wait, now is not a good time, a few weeks ago, or maybe a few weeks after CNY, things may improve.

Right now the volume sellers like Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai and Honda have their hands full.

Apart from Honda, the rest may not have as big a margin, so they can't offer fat discounts. You may want to change your choice?

What particular car are you looking at ?

I'm looking at the B&B cars like Elantra, Mazda 3 and Qashqai. I'm not in a hurry, just that my office shifted and i thought owning a car now makes more sense. Used to take 40 mins to travel to work, now perhaps an hour.

My SE ( Hyundai) called and mentioned last day got discount. Asked further, the price don't come with standard serving and only 6 months road tax, but comes with 3 Sure win lucky dips. Now, if I'm unlucky, I could get a deal worse then their list pricing package.

I heard several Distributors are planning a Post 'Cars at EXPO' Sale, to lock in more orders before the next COE bidding from 7-9 Nov, to meet their Sales targets for 2016.

Why even subject yourself to Lady Luck, if there's a chance that you might end up with a worse deal, when a good deal can be had, if you sign the deal now?

If you are indeed going to get a new car, your next step's a no brainer right?

What's meant by sale target 2016? Isn't total car volume is capped at the COE quota each time?

Total number of cars sold per year in SG is capped by COE quota - yes.

There are also many ADs and PIs selling new cars right?

So each AD's market share of that same pie will commensurate with the number of cars each is able to sell, thus their sales target.

Now, every AD (or PI) will want to maximize their share of the same fixed pie right?

Certain ADs may also lose their distributorship, if they fail to meet the sale target set by their principals!

BMW posted on their FB:

If you're not caught in the crowd at CARS@EXPO, you can come on down to Performance Motors at 303 Alexandra Rd for the same exclusive deals & offers!

My bad: This was posted yesterday! LOL!

Usually when most ppl think it will raise, the price drop.

The 1k+- discount doesnt = to the car selling price. So maybe should just bite the bullet and end this mental torture

After 3 weeks coe period, nov 1st bid 99% should go up. But subsequent coe bidding then hard to say up or down liao. Lol.

Just came back from the Expo. Like most who were there. Look see only not ready to commit. The expo car park is full but from my observation, sale isn't great unless i don't see properly.

Ford and Opel are pushing hard to have some bite but not much crowd for them. Will be interesting to see the next COE bid. Beside price, the number of bids will also be what we should watch out for.

If the number of bids & prices are low (below $50,000), the car rental companies representing Uber & Grab will come in at the last 10 minutes and push prices up.

Just like the Oct 2nd bidding, at 3.30pm, Cat A COE was $45,000. Suddenly, in came 350 bids in the last 10 minutes to push prices up by $6,500 to $51,500.

Sorento 2.2 diesel price is $149,999 now.

My friend secured Sorento 2.2 diesel at $141K for 6 bids guaranteed, at the 1st bid in Oct.

Tip: Can bargain for further discount ,  3 year complimentary servicing etc. Don't take the advertised price as it is. C&C has >$20K profit margin to play with at current COE rates.

Went down today to kay poh from 11am to 1pm. Notice there was quite a crowd but didn't see much people sitting down to sign. Same goes for the used car section further down. There is also the electronics and bedding expo which may benefit from the crowds.
