andrewyewkc 5th Gear May 22, 2018 Share May 22, 2018 (edited) Any bros had to change their batteries within the first two years? Just checking if anyone has had to face dead cars or are there clear symptoms that the battery is going to fail? My battery (on W211) lasted me more than 4 years. I wanted to change it at 2 years but my workshop told me no need. AA did a check on my battery at about 3.5 years and it was still in very good condition. AA has a device that can measure the remaining life of your battery. I needed AA because my battery had gone flat after my wife sat in the car listening to music with the fan running for more than an hour without the alternator charging. I will normally measure the voltage of the battery to see if it is ok with my ZUS device. Edited May 22, 2018 by andrewyewkc ↡ Advertisement
Heman75 Supercharged May 22, 2018 Share May 22, 2018 Batteries are not covered in warranty. It is general tear and wear item lol in CnC batteries are warranty for 2yrs.
Gnahp Turbocharged May 22, 2018 Share May 22, 2018 When I look at the undercarriage of the W211, I can two solid steel members running through the entire length of the car. They are not designed to crumple or buckle. Below is the undercarriage of the W204 and you can see the steel members. the front subframe doesn't run through the entire length of the car it ends near to the firewall
andrewyewkc 5th Gear May 23, 2018 Share May 23, 2018 the front subframe doesn't run through the entire length of the car it ends near to the firewall Thanks for showing the picture. The subframe would be connected to other structural elements running through the entire length of the car. Important thing is that the entire vehicle is structurally robust and will not easily crumple in a collision.
Vratenza Supersonic May 23, 2018 Share May 23, 2018 Don't think conti chassis frame design is very much different from other makers. Just a matter of choice of material and where they reinforce important structural points. this is the 2015 C-Class chasis:

Just checking if anyone has had to face dead cars or are there clear symptoms that the battery is going to fail? I changed the main battery at 2.5 years. The start stop battery, if you have one, can just leave it to die then change as start stop will be disabled when this battery is impaired, I was told. So I will change when this function stops working. It is still working at Year 3.

Just checking if anyone has had to face dead cars or are there clear symptoms that the battery is going to fail? Me. Symtom is the remote even when you change the remote batt , the alarm can trigger off. Other thing is the car cam also does go a little wonky And the most obvious is the Wiper and headligts when you turn them on during rain , the instrument lights dim a little.
