I said before in some other threads, 9G tronic is not about using all  the gears till 9th gear to feel that it is worth it. 9 gears allow the engineers to have closer ratio between each gear for smoother gear change (reduce shift shock if the gear ratio difference is too big) and better efficiency (think CVT).

 

Recall you drove a 7G merc before and now 9G.  Do you feel there is a significant difference in ride quality?

7G has issues with rough gear change from 1st to 2nd gear. Gear hunting occasionally. 

9G sorts out all those issues. Because the gear ratio is so close between each gear and the gear change is very smooth, the acceleration feels faster (7G was a 3.5L V6 vs my 9G is a 2.0T)

Thanks, helpful to know.  May give it a test drive.  My SE suggesting I should upgrade to 9G!

To my understanding, most AT don't start from 1.  It is strange that Merc starts from 1.

Depends on drive mode. In my prev 7G, in order to mask the 1-2 rough shift, I put to comfort mode or non-sports equivalent. I think  that skips the 1st gear.

The current enhanced car essential package from C&C offers a lot more than previous one including front and rear brake pads and battery replacement which are useful but also includes 4x paint protection system which seems excessive.  Has any bro negotiated with C&C by trading off some of these "freebies" for lower price discount?  And if yes, is it 1 for 1, i.e., reduce car essential package by $1000 for $1000 price discount?

Yes, read that for 7G Eco mode, starts from Gear 2.

The drop off point to Tampines Hub is a good test. The road is extremely bumpy and is made of little cement slabs. Coupled with humps of various sharpness, it is the ultimate test of car suspension. Go early in morning where there is less traffic

anyone encounter Collusion prevention Assist plus inoperative? seem like i have it frequently , every time send in ,they upgrade the software, works fine, problem retune few month later.

the last time sent in to 3-4 days, they ckeck wiring, sensor...etc. finally replaced sensor. less the 6mth, appear again.

Happened to me 2 months ago, just before my 15k servicing. Sent in to reset, together with my servicing. One day job.

The Radar is located behind the front grille, where the giant star is

 

if for any reason you knocked your bumper, or the grille, or get the star really dirty, the collision assist inoperative warning will come out

 

so think back and see if your grille is very dirty?

 

or where you park , there is trolley or people bumping into your grille

 

or you drive on really rough roads and your car bump until the radar out of alignment

 

(or are you having sex on your front bonnet?)

My star is the hollow type, not the solid filled.  i can't see any radar, rather 4 sensors located at the bumper.  hope software reset solved the problem.

Are you referring to the round sensors at your bumper? The parking sensors - parktronic

 

You having problem with parktronic or collision assist? Collision assist is radar operated. What model is your car? CLA?
