BTW bro, do you think this job can be done in a day or less?

I'm the baby grab driver with fetching duties haha

What I would do is the drop in at your selected workshop let them check and then order in the parts. Pay a deposit if you have to. Once parts are here then back to workshop to fix and then go for an alignment nearby. That way you minimize waiting. I would think that 2hrs would be enough for the front shocks maybe add another hr at most to get aligned. If the shop is fast and good. 2hrs would be enough for everything.

My W246's front left strut has a knocking or loose sound at low speeds. It was actually picked up by the Merc chap when I did my usual service in December, he said it's the mount that is old, but won't affect the car. But given that I want to drive it til the COE is up in early 2027, I might consider fixing it.

I'm looking for places familiar with my car, near Leng Kee / Alex Village ideally so I don't have to go that far?

Bro @Ct3833 has kindly recommended this place https://maps.app.goo.gl/2FwqRSnzuuS4L93m8 - thanks bro!

Accord Auto Services Pte Ltd

1009 Bukit Merah Lane 3, #01-80, Singapore 159723

Does anyone have experience with this and also any other recommendations?

I guess I'll need to change the mounts for both front struts?

Thanks!

leng kee area maybe can consider - https://www.sgcarmart.com/directory/merchant.php?MID=16863

Surely can be done in a day including ordering and delivery of spare parts. but because he has to order spare parts,  you may have to collect your car late.

One way is to get them to order parts first before you send your car there, some shops require deposit  but if you are a regular client, then they can do the ordering in advance without deposit.

Alternatively, you can book an appt with the shop, tell him you need the car back by 4pm or 5pm, ask them to give you priority.  By right if everything in place, 2 to 3 hours job max

VAG at Enterprise Hub, Toh Guan can do. They did my bushing and rear shocks replacement. If your front struts are in 50/50 shape, just change both, and replace front brake pads at same time (if worn). No need to do alignment again if struts need to be changed down the road.

So I had a bit of time to pop into Autosprint

The entrance is a bit tricky into Autopoint, they are on the 7th floor, you don't need to pay to enter but tell the guard it's for service.

They had a bit of queue, but thanks bro Mk, so I told them I just want an assessment, and after a short wait they found me a bay to hoist it up for a look see.

So the front struts have 3 pieces of rubber, and they figured they need to change all three on both sides, but keep the shocks.

So I made an appointment after my Manila trip and get it sorted in half a day, so it's fine for my June road trip.

Now I'm waiting for the costs... phew

Neutral Newbie

Hello can I ask if anyone knows why the c180 launched in 2022 at 247k when Cat B was 90k. But today C180 is at 293k and cat B only increased 10+k, why the disproportionate increase in price over two years? I checked the launch price of other Mercedes and the current price today, only the C180 has such a huge jump from its launch price (some even had a fall by a few thousands)

https://carbuyer.com.sg/2022-mercedes-benz-c-class-debuts-in-singapore/

At the recent car expo, the C180 was on offer for 250k. So I am wondering if Mercedes intentionally jacked up the price prior to the expo just so that they can offer a "special" price? Anyone has any idea on why this is so?

I would just change out the struts. It takes the most punishment and might not last the remain 3-4 years. Pay labor 1 time and just change it. Since dismantling everything

Usually the big 3 conti makes wouldn’t indicate its true selling price on the price list. Need to go to the showroom to check on the true price with the discounts/rebates/trade in etc.

for the C180, it hasn’t gone below 240k since 2022.

shocks

Thanks bro

It's about $300 or so for the rubber mounts only and $950 or so not including labor for the shocks - they took quite a while to get back...

My car is 7 yrs or so, 75k mileage, change it?

EDIT
I called them, see if they can get OEM, since most cars need shocks changed at about 70-80k anyway...

I found out all four dampers started to leak at about 80k km

it didn't affect the handling and drive in singapore until my recent trip to KL

I couldn't drive confidently beyond 130 on NSHW, it was like a speed limiter 😅

mileage is 98K km now

I guess I will pay a visit to the workshop to get those dampers replaced

Mercedes quality isn’t like the W124 days anymore. If you want a tad stiffer can consider bilstein B4. Should be cheaper too. I think the oem is sachs.

Did you feel the car was floaty at high speed?

the one that came from the factory is made by bilstein 😵💫

they are stiff enough for me

will stick with the original part

I remember last time my W204 was replaced with sachs at 5th year, last till I traded in the car at 9.75 year
