Given that 2020 is a year where we are all probably forced to self reflect on our lives.
I'm currently finishing or reading 4 different books which are all very insightful and which I've learnt a fair bit from.

1) Matthew Walker - Why We Sleep
Must read for everyone. Cannot stress this enough.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34466963-why-we-sleep?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=he8xoXngC4&rank=1

2) Range By David Epstein
Why generalisation is helpful rather than specialisation
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/41795733-range?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=TQKWUNpBTP&rank=1

3) The Righteous Mind by Jonathan Haidt
Very interesting read on human psychology and how we are all riders of our own elephant. Gives a framework to my own observation of how people behave (including myself).
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11324722-the-righteous-mind?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=4GQ0a0wfAq&rank=1

4) Breath By James Nestor
Something so simple, but absolutely so crucial to our health and well-being. If it's working well for you, u may never realise. The wonders of evolution and Mother Nature.

Any book by Michael Connelly preferably read in order.

Same with John Lescroart, but if you want to get sucked in to his work read 'The Oath' and then 'The First Law'

Both authors available through NLB.

wah thanks for you guys keeping this thread alive, esp @TangoCharlie

Recently not been reading much.

I recently read Ready Player One and i liked it, kinda young adult fiction. But has quite a lot of geeky elements to it.
Haha based on the reviews, it's either u like it or hate it.
I'm kinda forgiving on bad writing style if the content is there. But some people cannot stand it, especially those serious readers.

I recommend books written by Khaled Hosseini. His first book The Kite Runner was very well written (the movie certainly did not do the book justice). His 4 books so far are :

The Kite Runner

A Thousand Splendid Suns

And the Mountains Echoed

Sea Prayer
