I read the first 3 and then stopped. Felt the story was getting too complicated for simple young me then.

I had to re-read God Emperor of Dune like 7 times before I finally grasped the entire book, I think its the hardest in the series.  Book 5: Heretics of Dune was very nice, really distanced itself from the ghost of Paul and you had new interesting characters.  Book 6: Chapterhouse Dune rounded up the story nicely.  [thumbsup]

I read one book of the new series by his son and promptly threw it away.  Absolutely refuse to read junk. :a-t2622:

When i was younger my elders nro had a collection of Playboy, Hustler and Mayfair magazines. I love reading each page (even the ads) and enjoyed many of the pictorials!ðð

Mayfair was interesting. All the fat (ok a little plump) Brit chicks. But much less airbrushed than the US rags. :D

Of course I speak not from experience. How can I, being as innocent as the drivel driven snow? [laugh]

I'm a Potter fan. So is my wife. Really enjoyed them.

But I generally enjoy young adult fiction.

Haven't read the latest one though.

I like the movie, even though didn't do well in sales. Also later they have tv series which I also like it.

Since I like the movie and tv series, so might as well go and read the all the books.

This book is for layman getting a glimpse of Quantum physics. One of those books that you are fascinated by don't know what you are reading.

I watched the movie too. Was disappointed on first viewing.

Then went to read the books cos was interested about the whole premise ... the various Houses, the Spice, folding space, the worms etc.

Re-watched the movie again years later and appreciated it better. Think an extended cut of Dune is also available. Must admit, David Lynch style a bit hard to grasp.

The movie helps in the imagery of the Dune world. Without the movie, I would find it hard to imagine how the bene geserit or the guild navigator looks like.

yes, I agree. the movie helped flesh out the characters and events in the book.

so it was easier to understand the book after I watched the movie.

and the lady who played Lady Jessica in the movie  [gorgeous]

If they re-did it with our modern day styles, can imagine the Bene Gesserit fighting like the matrix or Donnie Yen [laugh]

Would be nice to see a remake of Dune on the big screen.

But really, I doubt any studio would take the risk cos box office is not guaranteed like Star Wars ...

And you can't have theme parks based on earth worms or people battling each other with the voice thingy.

Any bro came across Bobby Fischer's book(s) on chess?

Please keep a look out for me. Thank you.

He was a chess Grandmaster at the age of 15! I remember borrowing his book from the Toa Payoh library when I was a teenager and started beating almost everyone at chess except my dad. [laugh]
