But it is ok. LCR not using korean brand so people will say this brands are proven reliable so can buy even though same model as taxi. [laugh]  [laugh]

Did car prices come down after this round ?

Many companies will try and price their cars a little lower, to entice the buyer. Tell them that COEs may go down more.

But the question to ask is what if the prices go up?

Some buyers were caught out when they paid a much lower price when the COE was 43k, and the next round, prices shot up. Some had to top up, and some had to top up a lot..

So be clear and get it on B&W about how the bids go..

My neighbourhood CP got 3 LCR this week.  SLF plate.  2 Vezel and 1 Altis. Altis is a taxi turned Uber.  He seems more happy.

So far seen LCR

Altis, Vezel, Attrage, K3, Mazda 3.  I think Vezel number 1 now.

If you go in and buy when the coe drop too much, next round high chance will go up instead of come down. Either you top up accordingly or wait and hope next round coe might come down. Lol.

I will buy when price drop.  Wait for Car or Wait for Refund.  I have time and patience lor ....

Strictly No CAT E and No Top Up.

Why not Cat E? Now hard to say which coe bid will up or down. So depends on luck also even you have time and patience. Lol.

So far today at least see more than 10 CLR on the road ....

There are 29k PHP cars vs 28K taxis, that means you have a more likelihood to see a PHP car than seeing a taxi of any company on the road. Edited by Ct3833

It is the same yet different lor.

2 things about CAT E, one is up to 6 bids before current bids lor.  On a uptrend, you are getting a lower rebate lor.

The second ..... I forgot.

The next thing is ...... I always have time and patience ..as in ... nothing of sort, MUST BUY this Dec or Next Dec.  Because COE ending.

As a matter of facts, all my previous ride switching have a 3~6months gap lor.

I love to wait out a bargain.

Buy New Car, Renew COE and Take Bus is on the table lor .....

For what you know, at this rate, take a Uber ride to work is CHEAPER than buying a car

Found this budget comparison document - Interesting that our Vehicle Quota Premium revenue is projected as $5.65B and with roughly 100,000 COEs this year, the price of our current COE is at $50-60K. The person who did the maths is a fortune teller...

Not surprising. Prices of COE are all controlled, unless car buyers are made to bid for COE themselves.

Would you bid away $50K 0f your cold hard cash?

Probably not. Guess the magic forces will come in again if the COE drops below $50K.

The 'controlled' that you mentioned could perhaps indicate some invisible back-end hand or collusion. That would be both unnecessary and daft as it would destroy government's credibility fatally.

It would be more through policy changes or tweaks that nudges behaviour from consumers. For instance, allow in PHP here, tweak the loan amount there, adjust the ERP, parking rates somewhere else. All can be calibrated to achieve huge impact or small ripples that generate $$ for ah gong.

Of course, if ah gong keeps twiddling policies too frequently, then consumers and industry players will hold back because everyone abhors instability.

So it is more likely that after big policy tweaks like allowing PHP to flourish and loan amounts eased, they would step back and see the effects ripple out through the system over a few years.

Everyone vested, right from ah gong on top to industry players and down to consumers, all want stability so that they can plan.

So to succinctly put what our fellow MCF'ers always say: if it is within your calculations, buy. No need to wait for COE to rise, fall, rise, fall, rise, fall.

Just a Saturday morning keyboard exercise.  [:)]
