How do you determine that? And who has the data? Unless someone is a chemical engineer at Exxon/Shell/caltex/spc who test fuel and are willing to share. Everything else is butt feel and hearsay.

I know itâs a new car and you want the best. But there are other things in life to be more concerned about.

Precisely... all these nonsense about which petrol is better than which... seriously petrol is petrol lar...

i mean, not all petrol brands in Singapore are the same. Some are cleaner than others

Where's your info source from?

based on info inside i30 fuel cap... min. 95 octane and above.

best brand/type of petrol would be up to your personal preference, if you have the budget... pump shell v-power nitro+. ð

i30 need such high octane fuel?

Hard to believe.

Manufacturer specified lowest octane number is the minimum where the engine can adjust by itself to prevent knock.

If you can afford higher octane the better so you can extract out the maximum performance of the engine being the engine no need to take care about the engine knock issue.

Whether which fuel is higher power that unless you know the calorific value from manufacturer as comparison, otherwise it just depend your butt feel.

Like my butt feel tell me mix Shell 97 + Petron 97 50/50 ratio seem give better response.

As cleaner I shall refer to the cleaning additive added for clean the valve. But now i30 is DI engine then this cleaning agent serve no purpose already. Please read carbon built up issue on DI engine.

I saw from the pic, i30 wagon is indeed very nice looking.

Was contemplating at Shuttle, now this wagon makes Shuttle looks plain.

I30 wagon is indeed good, was regretting my choice of the...car I bought.

However,I did not regret as much once I saw it at the expo.

It's the basic/medium model in Europe.

Look of Aircon vents(black ) and the lack of rear central armrests tells everything about it.

Yes. Both side is synced.

If it is sync, then must be something wrong with the climate control already. I has been driving month now, feel that the air-conditioning is not as good as others made. Suspect it make for Europe weather rather than here all time Summer

trim getting here is a bit different. Not the look of the vent ring, or armrests. These two things are really minor imo. Normally ppl talking about safety and engine & transmission. I would said our one is at the medium trim. We getting a good engine and transmission, but not the safety package. Indeed, wagon is more value than hatchback as it has more (7) airbags.

Did you compare with the Honda Jade?

This one has rear double wishbone suspension

exactly, the difference in the qty of airbags on hatchback vs wagon made me chose the latter without hesitation.

price difference was $3k which seems pretty reasonable.

From what I've read and experienced during the test drive, the turbo opens at 1500 rpm and peaks at 3200. Don't make sense for a engine to peak at 1500 rpm considering the idle rpm is about 1000.

I have no knowledge about that. But when I drive my car smoothly it is about 1500. Don’t think the peak there. Not much power in that region. Probably 3200rpm is the peak

Depends on what u r after bro. For the additional 8k u have a car which is nicer, more powerful, consumes less fuel and a pretty spacious boot. It's almost less common than Elantra. Elantra is like flooding sg roads Liao. Haha

What are the specs differences? What do you get on the i30 that you don't get on the Elantra Elite? And what do you get on the Elantra Elite that you don't get on the i30?

From the outset, the i30 was designed for poor road surfaces in Europe and so the suspension is sprung more firmly and the car rides and handles better. You may or may not like it. So you have test drive back to back to find out.

Other than that, I guess it's basically the difference in specs and what's important to you. Definitely the turbocharged engine will be much better to drive without I think a significant penalty in fuel consumption...
