Mralfredoh 1st Gear March 17, 2018 Share March 17, 2018 If i add a blow off valve that recirculates to the atmosphere, i wont need an oil catch can anymore right? ↡ Advertisement
Contipro 5th Gear March 17, 2018 Share March 17, 2018 This is the general consensus. 1. Avoid creeping as much as possible, especially not on a slope. DO NOT DRIVE it like a conventional auto with a torque converter. With a conventional auto,u can even hold the car on a slope by lightly tapping the accelerator pedal without using yr foot brakes. Never ever do that with a DCT. Use the electric parking brake or turn on the auto brake hold feature. U can have the parking brake engaged with the transmission in D. Dont have to switch between N and D. 2. On a slope or in a jam, let the car in front move further away and u can accelerate normally without creeping. Of course, it isnt very practical if u are in a causeway jam. 3. At MSCP slopes, using the manual function helps. If u notice carefully, on VW's 7 speed DCT, 1st gear is seldom selected even when moving slowly on the slope... to prevent this jerkiness i believe. Perhaps u can use the manual function and use second gear. and use engine oil with low volatility (NOACK). Yes. Good efficiency butIs so difficult to maintain the dry DCT with so many don't list... especially I am frequent travel to malaysia via the causeway jam. Clutch plate replacement will be needed based on my usage if i keep the car till end of coe.. Thats why I avoiding DCT even it give better performance and response. If the Tuscon 1.6T come with normal trans or wet DCT or CVT i will go for it already. Unfortunately Hyundai choose dry DCT because they have spend so much on developing it for hybrid use as well. Sigh...
Dinkydong 3rd Gear March 17, 2018 Share March 17, 2018 U'll still need a oil catch can as the BOV has nothing to do with the crankcase ventilation system. Blow bys is still routed by the system back into the intake. If i add a blow off valve that recirculates to the atmosphere, i wont need an oil catch can anymore right? coktky 2nd Gear March 17, 2018 Share March 17, 2018 Just got my ride today. The turbo lag when going up mscp is really quite obvious, like a sudden surge at the end of the ramp when the car is almost level. May be quite dangerous if there's another car coming down from the adjacent ramp.Congratulation on the new ride. Dont worry to much. You will used to it soon. Did you try to manual shift to gear 2 or 1.
Contipro 5th Gear March 17, 2018 Share March 17, 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWz6vCnJ4CAGreat info. What brand can recommend? By install the oil catch can will this void the warranty?

Have not tried engaging the gears manually yet, hopefully it helps. However if the surge is coming from the turbo lag, not sure if manually setting the gears can reduce the effect.. And please drive gentle when cold start, and also almost reach car park. Need to take note for general turbo car.

Matrix0405 5th Gear March 18, 2018 Share March 18, 2018 Have not seen one on the road yet. Hopefully someone will write honest review after two tanks. Can it really do the hybrid-level of 18km/l?

keebok 1st Gear March 19, 2018 Share March 19, 2018 ? will hyundai's dry clutch DCT suffer from similar issues as VW's dry clutch dsg? Ya man. I am also very concern. I check with my SE.. he says veloster is using the same technology.. So far haven't hear any issue.
Contipro 5th Gear March 19, 2018 Share March 19, 2018 ? will hyundai's dry clutch DCT suffer from similar issues as VW's dry clutch dsg? If look purely the possible wear n tear on clutch plates, all dry clutch DCT share the same faith. Just like manual gb in old days where we are changing the clutch plate as well (but cost cheap compare to DCT) Other defects on operating issue will be case by case per each individual brands. Just like early when Hyundai started dry DCT also reported many issue at oversea market (before it was launch here in sg).
