Hi. Any comment on this car? Worth to purchase? Tq

To me the best value car to buy now under $100k. As long as you no issue with Korean brand then this is it.

The only thing i can say is: what is they subsequently being in the fastback version? And also, the new Kia Forte K3 looks awesome (but don't know whether will have TC version) and it should be here some time this year....i doubt it will cost a lot more than the i30 so if you not urgent you might want to wait...

Auto correct. Alas. Would make a good contender to the golf gti. But probably many Singaporeans cannot drive a manual! Edited by Mkl22

The only thing is the gearbox isn't as good and the fuel consumption isn't comparable yet... otherwise getting the i30 will be a no-brainer... of course I'll always pick the i30 cos of price... that trumps everything else always for me...

In terms of gearbox refinement, yes the VW gearbox is quicker and a little more refined. However, in terms of reliability, IMO Hyundai's DCT is better. At the very least, it doesnt have a similar DSG failure like VW and Ford. I recalled Hyundai mentioning that their shifts are deliberately slowed to ensure gearbox reliability. Despite of that, the shifts are still quicker than a typical conventional 6 speed auto. One thing i do like about DCTs in general is their intelligence. As an example, when going down a steep slope, a typical auto transmission when left in D will select a high gear, making it a necessity to slow the car down with the foot brake. On the other hand, with a DCT in D, the transmission will automatically select a lower gear, providing the required engine brake.

Hi, seems like the i30 has gotten lots of interest. Went down to the showroom just now and there was quite a number of people waiting for test drive. Pity there was no unit on display other than the test drive unit. Left without waiting in line for test drive. Anyway, sorry if it has been brought up before, but how is the cabin space of the i30 compared to the elantra? TIA.

When I went there to sit in the demo units, Elantra is larger at the rear. Slightly larger. Was the crowd in KMC a lot? What about the Elantras? Were there interest?

The showroom was not packed but busy. Almost all SE engaged with enquiring customers. Observed that i30 and kona were busy with testdrives. Can't really comment on the elantra interest part.

the 7 speed DCT gearbox felt snappy and fast when i test drive it recently, upshifts and downshifts were smooth.

as for fuel consumption, the i30 1.4T seems pretty efficient (at least on paper), on the brochure and price list it's listed at 5.5L/100km.. more frugal in comparison with elantra which is listed at 6.4L/100km.. quite a difference.

probably that's why the i30 is able to attain VES band A2 and enjoy the $10k rebate too.

yeah i agree, at its current price the i30 is unbeatable value, 1.4T engine with 7-speed DCT gearbox that can be gotten for under $90k, most value for money Cat B car on the market. :)

Got to check real world fuel consumption... I forgot that this comes with the dual clutch... hope it's faster than the torque converter versions... my Sonata's 6-speed auto is really slow...

Honestly.

This i30 slipped my radar.

I checked the specs. It's amazing for a sporty car like this.

Multi link. Turbo. Dct. Big boot.

Wide seats.

At 90k. Very near Elantra.

This i30 can be a family car as well?

There's nothing about it's century sprint.

Any official figures?

Petrol 98 or 95?

0 to 100 km/h is 8.9 secs with a 6 speed manual and 9.2 secs with a 7 speed DCT.

More info here: https://www.hyundai.news/eu/press-kits/new-generation-hyundai-i30-technical-specifications/

However, real world performance appears to be a little quicker ...

Not sure whats the min octane but i would guess its 95. In any case, being a forced induction engine, i'd prefer to stick with 98.

Check out the videos above, i am sure your torque converter 6 speed dont shift as quick.
