Hello everyone! I just booked an i30 yesterday. Looking forward to joining this community to learn and share.

I am coming from a 2013 VW Golf Mk7 1.4 that I owned for 7 good years. Have been shopping around for a replacement and the decision was made on the i30 because it offers the most car for the least money! Was impressed with the build quality, equipment level and how similar it drove compared to the Golf.

And now, the wait begins.

The i30 was made to take on the VW Golf & Ford Focus in UK mah...

Did KMC give you 5 year or 7 year warranty? Any free servicing package?

Yes 5 years warranty and 5 years servicing including parts and labour. They claim it's free but I understand you can actually opt out of the servicing package for a discount; which was what my FIL did when he got his Avante last November. That being said, I am not sure if such an offer is still valid today. But I just took the package out of convenience. Even if they did charge it inside the car purchase price, the markup on the i30 from it's basic cost is still reasonable for me.

What’s the package price? 6 bids non guarantee?

If you want extra warranty for the car, KMC offers extended warranty to 7 years (or 200k mileage, whichever come first) if you purchase the 2 year servicing package before the original warranty is over.

Since you have the free 5 years service package, the cost of warranty extension is 1k as you only need to purchase the package once at 5 year mark.

Thanks! Will ask the SE about it.

I'm just wondering if there are any implications if I change out the horn on the car? It seriously sounded like the toy horn on my daughter's bicycle... and I'm used to the dual tone horn of my VW; saved my neck once when a private bus decided to filter out without checking his mirrors...

the new i30 looks very European in design now.

Yes indeed. It should looked like this right from the start. The wagon looks more stunning than ever. I wonder if Komoco will reintro the wagon version again with this facelift because it looks just too handsome.

If sgcarmart info is correct, i30 wagon was delisted this year. Probably there is no stock for it anymore.

Yup, I asked about the wagon and was told it's no longer available. Only the hatchback left.

That's too bad. Just too bad. I thought the wagon of the i30 is the nicest looking model in its range and also offers a much more practical sense.

I agree. I would have gotten the wagon as the extra boot space suits my needs very well. In addition to the fact that I like the wagon design more, as I feel it stands out more than the hatchback.

But oh well. Since it wasn't an option at the time of purchase, I am happy with the hatchback; which will be my fourth hatch in my car ownership history... 🤣

No way the 1.5 T will make it here... that puts the car back into Cat B...

The initial batch of i30 was Cat B before it was detuned.

Was really interested in the fastback which I think still the best looking. But when they bought in with that listed price of >10k above the HB😔

In the current climate, I think we need a custom Stebel horn that sounds like a giant wet cough. 😂
