Genes 6th Gear January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 Ppl should start to realise that M3 and Mz3 is a world of difference, and should not be used interchangably. Also take a look at their OMV, to better count your depre. Not saying Hyundai has high OMV, but Mazda's OMV has been low. ↡ Advertisement

Genes 6th Gear January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 I think Hyundai lower leh... now only $11K... i refer to those 2nd hand Mazdas on sale in sgcarmart. Look at their stated OMVs. I believe it shouldn't differ too much from the new cars from TE. Then you look at the selling price. Nice cars as they are, the depre is quite disgusting imo

The_mark 2nd Gear January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 I think the current pricing of the i30 is hard to beat for the turbo they throw in. A direct comparison between Mazda 3 HB would be Impreza HB instead.
kelaihoyin 5th Gear January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 (edited) Performance to value ratio the i30 is probably the best in the market. It is afterall a Cat B car. About features I don't think Mazda 3 has that much either compared to i30. But the interior material used definitely a step above. I felt if direct compare Mz3 to Impreza at the same price point in terms of performance (2litre vs 1.5l), features (eyesight, CarPlay etc) and handling (AWD) Mazda 3 is on the losing side as well. Not forgetting the interior of the Impreza is pretty upscaled as well. Edited January 23, 2018 by kelaihoyin
jogawa8 Clutched January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 Definitely reliable... pay $10,000 more - take a look at the feature set and the build quality... only you can decide if those differences are worth the $10,000 difference... and also whether worth or not depends on your priorities in buying a car - design, safety features, space, power, ride quality, road handling, convenience features, unique highlights, etc...So, in your opinion, i30 will be the better deal? In terms of usage, i will only be using it to ferry my 6 month old and daily commute to work. Mostly will be driving on minor roads.
Buaytahan Neutral Newbie January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 Im looking at the new i30 as well but was reading about the 7 speed DCT auto gear being recalled in US last year. I am not sure if the new i30 is using the same gearbox or they have resolved the issue.

Dinkydong 3rd Gear January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 (edited) Have u ever driven any of these 2 cars? Mazda drivers may not like this but IMO, their so-called Skyactive engines are nothing worth mentioning. In the 3's body, the 1.5 liter engine is not sprightly. Morning cold starts the engine sounds horribly gruff. Do a door slam test between the i30 and the Mazda 3. I would suggest that u be your own judge, try out these 2 cars and let us know what u think? They are not even in the same league IMO. When i was comparing cars, i was pitting the Volvo V40, VW Golf and the Opel Astra against the i30! So, in your opinion, i30 will be the better deal? In terms of usage, i will only be using it to ferry my 6 month old and daily commute to work. Mostly will be driving on minor roads. Thats great!!!! There is another i30 Singapore group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/289299781419074/about/ I think there is already one on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/groups/756798167845486/ Edited January 23, 2018 by Dinkydong

Kar_lover Supercharged January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 (edited) Hi, contemplating between the i30 and M3 hatch. May I ask for those of you who had bked the i30, what was the deciding factor? And what were the freebies thrown in. I was only offered 1 yr free svc-ing. As someone that was aiming MZ3, i can say other than branding (and that ony matters if u have negative perception of Korean brand), the only 2 things the MZ3 beats the i30 is the finish of the interior where it is a bit better and i think it is slightly more spacious (been awhile since i sat in an MZ3). But i30 other than being cheaper, throw in the TC and 7sp DCT is the hands down choice if it were me. Don't think there is any other sub 100k car with TC. And i was surprised to see it even has rear air con vents! Edited January 23, 2018 by Kar_lover

DACH Supersonic January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 i30 Fastback looks I doubt Komoco will bring in. It will eat into the Elantra sales.
Kar_lover Supercharged January 23, 2018 Share January 23, 2018 I doubt Komoco will bring in. It will eat into the Elantra sales. Yeah thats what i thought but they can position Elantra for a slightly more mature/family buyer and the i30 for a younger/single group. If borneo can have both Vios and Altis and KM can have both City and Civic, i don't think we can't have both i30 and Elantra. Only thing is hope they will bring in a turbo version for the Elantra.... ↡ Advertisement
