Children Air Fares for Traveling

Hi guys.

Wanted to ask, what are the usual air fares for long distance travels for children? To Europe for example?

When i take budget airlines (to perth and thailand) so far, the fares are usually discounted.

Was looking at the SQ promo to UK today, unfortunately air fares for kids are not discounted. Full fares.

Was wondering if this is standard practice in longer flights?

Both my kids are above 2 and so will occupy a full seat.

later this thread will mutate into

vacations should be xx% of annual income, otherwise don't complain costs of living very high

then the prudent people will start to tell everyone which luxury travel they went previously

Single income two kids, have to watch the pennies [:p]

U neber consider Emirates? Slightly cheaper & in flight entertainment beats SQ hands down.

Seems like Qatar is quite a bit cheaper.

Advantage of SQ is direct flight lor. Get it over and done with. The agony of dealing with 2 young kids on a flight.

Go Manchester for gloomy holiday?

I'm considering visiting a good friend of mine.

I'm still 50-50 about going there cos of the trouble bringing the 2 kids along.

child tickets not much difference in cost from adult.  only savings is the airport tax element which is cheaper for kids than adults.  but that is cheaper only by $50 at most.  infant tickets are indeed much cheaper because they don't occupy a seat.

I flew via Lufthansa but needed to transit via Frankfurt, 1 hour.

They have premium economy which will give you more leg room.

Qatar has a promotion whereby the kid flies "free"

So it's about 3.1k vs the cheapest cheapest SQ combi at about 3.8k+ (that includes taking the red eye to Manchester)
