I test drove it at Motorway today and was very impressed. It was really smooth and responsive for a big spacious car. The interior is basic and fabric seats which is not good for families with small kids/babies.

Cost was fairly quoted 6 bid gtee coe $149,888 but nothing else thrown in like most other brands (DVD, tinted windows, in car camera, leather, etc).

Same concerns as previous comments though - after sales support and availability of parts.

First 3 years free servicing/warranty was a good counter this.

I'm also concerned about its resale value.

Hope to hear more feedback from others as I ponder over this car. Planning to get a MPV end of year (or 9 Jan Motorshow).

Hi, I saw the ssangyong stavic at the recent car expo. And i am pretty impressed by its exterior look (Yes looks can be subjective). Its an mpv but looks like an suv which will have a presence on the road. Thats what I am looking for. And I am so reluctant to get a alphard/vellfire cos it really makes me look like an uncle and of course the price will go past the $200k mark. I am currently driving an 8.5 year old Toyota fortuner btw. Prado could be a replacement ption but it can't beat the 9 seater stavic

I would like to know whether anyone has owned a ssangyong car before? Any review? Can it last 10 years? Cos I reckon getting a ssangyong will have big depreciation impact once it leaves the showroom. What about servicing and parts? Is motorway reliable?

Really appreciate your comments cos I am seriously thinking of getting this car. Thanks!

My dad use to drive a 2008 Stavic. Did not recall the car having any major problems. Only changed those wear and tear parts. Drove up north several times and even Phuket. Car clocked 250,000km before my dad sold it off. It uses Merc technology maybe thats why it is reliable. Cars are made to last if you take of it properly.

Kia Sorento 2.2 diesel at $150K and comes with 10 year engine warranty, is another worthy contender. Sits 7, although the interior is not as spacious at the Stavic. But the image is more rugged and macho, and the brand is more established with proven after sales support & higher sales volume, so no worries of lack of spare parts.

Bingo, I really ended up getting a 2013 sorento sx! Love the engine's torque in the powerful drive and looks especially sunroof. Not many on the road though.
