Hi there, need advice from current or past 159 owners. I intend to get a 2010-2011 159 as a second car. Never driven an Alfa before but with resale prices for 159 really tempting finally following my heart to buy one despite reading all the problems with the car. The dealers I've been to refused to allow me to send the cars for STA inspection so I'm taking a gamble here. I want the car to be problem free till COE expires. The cars I've seen have milleage of 110K-150k. I plan to send the car for servicing once I've collected it. Need members to advise 1)possible parts to replace/repair for that kind of milleage 2) recommmended workshop 3) budget I should put aside

Many thanks!

If u really like to own one.. set aside 6-8k will be good... after getting the car send to EA or AS To do check up... cheers!

Hihi the car won't be problem free for sure.

There will be little little things that need changing here and there.

Buy from direct owner is the best.

Good call. Don’t buy if you can’t get it inspected.

Too many have done too much in short cut maintenance. Brings a bad name already to a car that requires TLC.

Check with EA and Alfa Sportivo. Even then, it doesn’t guarantee to be perfect. Be aware of obvious wear and tear , and then some parts that cannot be visually inspected or checked with the OBD scanner.

Like the advice the bros above have given, set a side a little bit of $ for unexpected maintenance bits

I bought an 159 a year ago & have spent quite a bit of $$$ on repairs & replacements.

I have my car serviced at PROWERKZ.

apart from occasional breakdowns & tows to workshop due to wear & tear issues, my 159 remains a joy to drive... & the stares & admiration I get from people seems to keep my drive going.

Looking forward to a Giulia next

dealers normally won't mind sta inspection cos not much is inspected. so if the dealer doesn't even allow sta, u know what it implies.

anyway, take down the car number and call Alfa Sportivo, Alfa City, Prowerkz. These are the usual workshops that do Alfa. then if all else fails, call AD.

it's not realistic to expect problem free till COE expires. the mileage is less important than what the owner has done to take care of it. For eg, i recently checked out a used 159. The owner had to go workshop many times. im sure he tried his best but still...even the check engine light was on. True enough, i called Sportivo and the history was there.

Common parts are usually gaerbox, timing chain, fuel pump. these are all in the thousands. yes, timing chain should last but somehow the 159 one cannot. Gearbox also expensive cos the actuator and ECU are separate, doubling the cost, about 6k. My current GT is housed in one unit.

So as the saying goes, car is good ppl won't sell. but point is always better to know the crap that exists than be fooled into one. anyway, i frequent sportivo and don't mind helping u check. just pm me the car num. good luck.

p.s. there r only 3 159s on the market. i know the history of 2 quite well. the dark colors one lol.

Anyone possibly interested in my 2009 Alfa 159 2.2 JTS sport wagon

Low mileage at 143k no repairs needed, pristine paintwork.

It is my daily driver and has not broken down on me before. No funny check lights!

I also check it regularly with my own copy of MultiECUScan and recalibrate the Selespeed to keep it in tip top condition.

Just getting feelers as I might need to get a 7 seater for the family. Not asking for sky high prices like those listed on SGcarmart, but will definitely be reasonable to fellow Alfa lovers

Open Market Value $31,256.00

PARF Eligibility Expiry Date 28 Apr 2019
Minimum PARF Benefit $15,628.00

Hi guys

I'm considering changing my car so have some 159 2.2 goodies to dekit.

1.Novitec muffler with cert - sgd 600. Need your stock muffler.

2.Yellowspeed coilovers. 3mths old. Can adjust height and damping rate. Still in very good condition. Travelled less than 3000km. Sgd 1500.

3.Jetex drop in filter. Better than k&n ans stock paper filter imo at the higher rpm ranges. Sgd100.

4. Front and rear brembo slotted disc rotors. Fits 330mm front bbk. Used for around 3000km. Awesome bite and feedback. Do a search online on why slotted discs are better than stock rotors. Sgd 550 for all 4 rotors.

Massive savings on items 2 and 4 especially. Can give further discounts if you takw all 4.

Sms or WhatsApp me @ 982o 878nine to discuss. Thanks!
