Mitsubishi ASX with CVT (3 months)

Got this problem in the mornings when engaging the reverse gear after the car is parked overnight on a level ground.

It only happens when shifting from "P" to "R" where a loud sound (like something grinding or cracking) is heard and the car reverses normally.

In "D" mode everything is normal and no noise is heard.

Only happens like once or twice in a month, puzzling.

Anyone knows if this is a serious problem?

i just sold this simple by big problem...yesterday sept 18 18 i drive my car pay pajero 04 to cdo  the mechanic told me its nice and rdurubility car,but after 14 years simpre the wear and tear will occure,....after thorough cking  found out the upper and lower  suspension rubber bushing already time due for replacement,s lo after replacing all the suspension bushing ,all the noise when turning full right or left reverse disaper....

Ok, next time try put the gear in neutral before you pull the handbrake, then put to park.

correct method. neutal handbreak than park.

as for TS did you wait for the car to come to a complete halt before engage R? try totaly stop and shift to neurtal than R. dont go from D to R without pausing at N.

Yes yes, that's what I meant. The load of the car will be on the gearbox. I don't know how to describe it exactly but I hope TS know what we meant and give it a try.

All the best!

this is what you meant.

apologies to non chinese speaking member. i cant translate.
