Hi Bro, you can consider using the cream version of Diclofenac. The name is 'Voltaren', comes in a small or large tube variation depending on your needs.

Whoa! Thanks for the tip. Didnt know theres a cream version.

Haha, me too, only come to know of it recently as well. Maybe medical people here can advise on the proper way of using it? Basically, I only apply when I start to feel pain that cannot be resolve by stretching.

If the doctors can't find any issues, try some light feldenkrais exercises.

Do the exercises slowly and get your brain to feel the changes and muscle movement.

Do these exercise after you wake up and before you go to bed. Try for a few days and see if there is any improvement.

Search on youtube for videos. Or look for "Awareness through movement". There are some books in the library too.

Some starter exercises for you.

hoped this helps.

Diclofenac is the same class as Arcoxia (anti-inflammatory); Once in a while there will be a response to that but most of the time, my problem respond better to Orphenadrine which is a muscle relaxant.

arcoxia is slow releasing compared to diclo

manage the pain long term arcoxia is better

You duracell rabbit or what? Do 1/2 marathon runs weekly.

I do not know about the rest of you but I think the root of the pain is right there. You are wearing out your body prematurely. I do not know about your age but what are you trying to achieve with the frequent long distance runs? Even doctors can't do anything to alleviate your pain. Long term I think you will only suffer more. Maybe you should stop running until the pain is gone. Attend physiotherapy or something.

True but like what I pointed out earlier, the pain didn't subside even when I stopped exercising. In fact, it improved only when I exercised even more.

Now, tell me about irony  [confused]

Is it this one?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costochondritis

This is the front ribs not back. I dun think is this.

Back pain is difficult to diagnose. A lot got to do with posture. I too last time had posture issue and had constant back shoulder and neck pain. I didn't realise my one side shoulder is higher dan the other when I stand upright. Ppl recommended me to see someone called a "bone setter" that will correct my posture. It worked for me after a couple of visits. A lot of ppl look for him. Especially those who had some kinda dislocation(old injury). You can hear them screaming. LoL...

I dunno if his contact had changed, Mr Lai or ppl calls him ah loong, 9675 8923. I haven't look for him in a long time.

Maybe you should change your mattress too. Or change your sleeping posture.

Thanks man, Costochondritis is a possibility.

I am thinking of looking at Chinese medicine in future if the pain continues after I am cleared of all left threatening possibilities.

If it's just a muscle or cartilage issue, a combination of stretching and strengthening of muscle groups will do the trick. Chinese medicine will probably help in this kind of circumstances compared to having to take long term anti-inflammatory or muscle relaxants.

I have already started on correcting sleeping/siting posture but it will require a longer time to see if it works. As what my specialist said, it's pretty normal for people at my age to have some pain here or there.

It's always good to be young (run full marathons weekly) but science is still not at the stage to reverse the process  [laugh]  (it's a moral question even if it's a possibility).

I had an allergic reaction to Voltaren (skin reddened on areas applied) when i was young and have stayed away from diclofenacs since then.

Don't really take anything for pain, just that on shitty days i'll need to spend more time stretching my body out. I'm only 38 but my aches and pains come from injuries more than anything else, i've got 8 cracked/broken bones and other injuries.

What helps me most now is weekly massages. My gf's therapist comes over to the house once a week and totally kicks our asses. Hurts like hell when she's doing it but after that the body is so relaxed. If there are any trouble spots she gets that cleared up right away.

Hey pal, so doing your own stretching can't be compared to massages?

My specialist is trying to rule out everything else with CT scan, probably followed by investigating if I have reflux. If those are cleared, I most probably have a muscular/skeletal problem which is not life threatening [laugh]

Hey RadX, how are you doing these days?

I wouldn't bother if it's just some muscular or skeletal issue. However, since my right chest pain is so close to the breast (Sternum) bone, he is trying to rule cardiovascular issues and reflux out.

Can't compare but sometimes helps with short term relief. When i'm having a bad day i'll be doing alot of stretching throughout the day.

Well, the pain is always around, it's only a matter of how painful it is. On a good day, maybe only a small area beside the right of my breastbone hurt with deep breaths. On a bad day, the pain extends to the upper right back and upper right arm and even normal breathing hurts. That's when it really start to affect me.

Now the only way is to rule out cardio and reflux and also early stage growths with CT scan. Nowadays I dread going to sleep because I will wake up with a painful right chest.

A bad day for me will be right chest pain beside breastbone, upper right back and arm pain with even normal breathing.

How bad is yours?
