Whether got Android Auto or not depends on HU installed locally.

It does not depends on what's from the factory.

HU can also be factory fitted.

JDM and North America is merging the Corolla hatch for this generation.

Sedan is an important seller in NA and ASEAN so it is likely to be on the way - the unresolved question is whether Toyota will attempt to merge JDM/NA like the Camry or keep them separate.

Powertrains wise like the CHR and Civic, expect a little bit of variety and adjustment given SG's likely sourcing from Thailand and tax policies. For example, CHR in Malaysia and US are NA engines only, no hybrid or turbo.

Currently NA gets the 2.0l brand new dynamic force engine with about 170hp, there is a 'high performance' 190hp hybrid on the way pairing 2.0l engine with electric motor.

In Japan, new 2.0l dynamic force engine as above. However, the hybrid is the standard 1.8l+motor combo that the Prius and CHR use.

In Europe, new 2.0l dynamic force engine as above. Rumoured to carry both standard and 190hp hybrid variants depending on country. Also will get the 1.2 turbo in the current Auris and CHR. The wagon version will be launching next week at Paris Motor Show.

Also a questionmark is the gearbox options. Overseas variants get a new direct shift CVT with launch gear or 6 speed manual with rev matching > like the engines, remain to be seen if they will make it here.

Yes to support your text above. Pls view the videos of the 2019 Gen12 Corolla hatch as seen in Hokkaido and USA.

As seen at some Toyota dealer at Sapporo. This Corolla came with the CMI 1.2T as seen in the CHR.

North America version

The dynamic force 2L is one of the most important all new engine from Toyota in recent yrs. Hope the same 2L 170hp will be available in SG as well...and not the current underpowered 1.6L just to avoid Cat B nonsense.

Maybe Lexus.  Not Toyota.

All Toyota sold by BM these days came with local fitted HU, including the Camry. Notice all cars and SUV has a big 2DIn hole in the dash instead of flush fitting radio surface?

Only the OMG Prius sedan has factory fitted HU with JBL speakers... thats only becos the HU also display hybrid specific info and controls, so BM LL have to include it. They can then sell the Prius at super high price also.

Such move sure save BM even more on the OMV... Wonder why other makes from Korea, Japan and Euro in SG doesn't need to resort to this and still have competitive OMV.....

New altis no more sedan? Dont think buyers would prefer a sedan version than a wagon version of altis. Lol.

there are spyshots of the sedan. the patents applied for the interior look similar to the hatchback versions.

Exterior looks not bad but if they also change the dashboard design of the current altis.

the change is radical actually. if you watch some of the reviews on YouTube for the hatch, the engine, though cvt, mimics a normal gearbox with multiple gears very well and the usual cvt drone is gone. seems more efficient too. will await an official launch here and review then.

Of course there will still be sedan. Toyota is one of the last few die-hard supporters of sedan form-factor. And USA market + most asian markets still have significant sedan market share.

Not sure why there was a bro here who suddenly declared "sedan is dead"......

North America is one of the 1st country where customer ditch there sedans for SUV.....this was where the current SUV craze originated. Low fuel prices and general feel good economy under the Trump Administration certainly help things along. For once Trump is doing the correct things... bigger is always better. small cars no good to the economy.

Also google ard. Sedan sales has been so bad that Ford has dropped all their sedans model from their lineup except the Mustang, which is the halo car. Ford even have plans to build a Mustang crossover SUV as a new segment.

GM is planning to drop some of their big sedans too.

And in SEA countries eg Indonesia and Vietnam, sedans attract higher taxes as it is perceived to be a 'lux' car. Hence you will be hard press to see an Altis or Camry in Jakarta.

sedan sales in JDM has always been modest also. Even if we don't talk about K cars, JDM pple still prefer hatch or MPV if they want more space. The Voxy trio and Alphards are popular over there.

Sedan is always a pain to have when u shop at Ikea of any of the florist during CNY... or a trip to the airport. Big boot but can't put much things inside due to the tiny opening

SUVs are definitely catching up on sales but there are definitely still buyers for sedans here and elsewhere.

just look at singapore, not everyone is going for an SUV, though they may cost about the same or have comparable fc.

the corolla and many other sedans are here to fulfil that demand. just look at every the conti makes like Merc, BM and Audi, the sedans do sell very well here, just look at the number of 5 series, a4s etc.

maybe we should start a new thread on 2018 corolla instead. this is afterall a thread on the 17 altis. anyone?

by the way, the new corolla will have a world's first launch gear for the cvt engine. the first gear runs like a normal gearbox before transiting to a cvt one, making it seem like a normal auto gearbox with lesser wear and better fc.

maybe you can consider watching the reviewers on YouTube to catch this new advancement. the current artificial gears, as you have said, have been around for a long time but this is an extra physical launch gear that pulls the car up to a certain speed first.
