QQ2017 6th Gear July 7, 2017 Share July 7, 2017 saw new altis price list in the harrier thread comes with 7 airbags and electric driver seat here (credit to @qq2017 ) : standard classic price: 105,988 Elegance classice price 110,988 Hi TangoElite, Glad that the price list was helpful... Btw the test drive unit is already at Leng Kee... Was told by SE that they are officially launching soon... And yes, it comes with 7 airbags and electric powered seat for the driver side (not sure if this applies for both standard/elegance models but I saw it in the test drive unit)... New "fiercer" headlight design and front bumper... one other noticeable change is the shape of the air-con outlet near the side mirrors, they are now round... I don't remember seeing rear air-con outlet though... and I didn't check the size of the tire/rim...

therock Supersonic July 7, 2017 Share July 7, 2017 Lovely vents - like the A3 Good to see the new safety features Not much more to ask for for the civil servant / teacher driver who loves his or her Corolla.
Hosaybo 6th Gear July 8, 2017 Share July 8, 2017 Competitive with the recent upgrade. Choice will depends of the loyal following but if more neutral person, the safety aspect will prob win over.
Fellows 4th Gear July 13, 2017 Share July 13, 2017 (edited) Toyota should bring in 1.8 variant on top of standard 1.6, it been awhile since we last have 1.8 Altis, even Malaysia, India and Taiwan also have for their pre-facelift model. Current hot selling family car 2014 pre-facdlift model safety is a joke with 2 airbags compare to Kia k3, it also lack rear aircon vents which is a standard for Elentra, K3 and latest Civic, the new upcoming Altis still lack this but at least come with better safety features. Interestingly Corolla Altis is not even on sale in their home ground Japan. Is like a export model only. Edited July 13, 2017 by Fellows

Many people still buy the 1.6L instead of the 1.8L. So dont think they would want to bring in the 1.8L again?!

At the current prices, buyers are complaining about the cost vs other brands, and most local buyers will sacrifice power for savings.. The main selling point is reliability and resale. The bedrock of Toyota. If they take away these, it won't be the innovations, shape or feature set that attracts the buyers.

In the COE era, I think the only time a higher cc model outsold a lower cc model was when the 1.8L Civic FD outsold the 1.6L Civic. Toyota did have a 1.8L Altis, similarly, Mazda does have a 2.0L Mazda 3. People still prefer the Cat A models.
Vinceng Turbocharged July 14, 2017 Share July 14, 2017 Sat in a private hire 2017 Altis yesterday, took the front seat and the front seat feels narrower than the Elantra and K3, and the overall width is narrower too. Very plain plastic interior. Nothing to shout about.
Mali 1st Gear July 14, 2017 Share July 14, 2017 1.6 NA Civic? Nah... Pros: larger cabin potentially better drive Carplay can negotiate for a no loan clause without a penalty Cons: Lousy plastics old engine, higher FC and emissions Low slung, not suitable for older folks only 2 airbags less features in general Pros: Cruise control Paddle Shift Cons: Transmission tunnel bump at the back - regression from the 8th Gen

The SE told me that not many buyers go for 1.8L in SG. People who want to buy Altis will mostly buy 1.6L because of our nonsensical Category A and B format. In larger countries such as USA they would laugh at the thought of a 1.6L NA sedan. ↡ Advertisement
