But if enough exit interviews finger an issue or individual as the reason for leaving. . I belive HR will report to higher ups no?

i doubt it

in a GLC, dozens have left because of a boss, and HR did nothing

in another MNC, i told HR i'm leaving cos there is nothing much to do. In fact, they shouldn't even look for a replacement cos my boss is quite free too. In the end HR hired 2 people to replace me

i have resigned quite a few times before and i can share with you my standard resignation letter (found in google). simple, doesn't invite questions and doesn't burn any bridges

Dear Mr Manager,

As is required by my contract of employment with XYZ Pte Ltd, I am hereby giving you xx weeks notice of my intention to leave my position as a junior executive. My final day of service will be on 12th July 2016.

I would like you to know that I will do everything I can to assist in the transfer of my responsibilities up to and during my period of leaving.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish both you and the company every good fortune in the future and to also thank you for the wonderful time I have had working with you.

at the end, NEVER burn bridges.

All my past employers/bosses are still good friends.  Work together and meet to chat as most in the same circle.

The world is small.  Best to be on good terms with all

+1. It's idealistic to want to just throw letter and storm out but the world is indeed small and chances are you will meet your ex-boss/employer again next time.
